18 pin power cord for 7xx

My plug got broken recently, while attempting to repair it I noticed that their was no voltage regulation inside the plug. Is it regulated in the cradle?

No, it must be in the Nüvi itself - because you can see the input voltage in the diagnostics; and it's always 12+ volts.
