Hi everyone,

I apologize if this has already been answered somewhere else in this forum but I didn't find an answer in the FAQs. To run in Silent mode, call POI Loader from the command line with the Silent mode option enabled, for example:

> PoiLoader.exe /silent

How does one "call POI Loader from the command line...?" I'm on a PC running Windows XP if that helps.

I just bought a 660 and SanDisk 1GB SD card.When I try to transfer MP3's or Audibel books to the SD card, my computer says the SD card needs to be formatted. When I try to format it through the 660, it says it cannot.

Exchanged the card for a new one (suggested by SanDisk), with the same results. Anyone experience this or have any ideas?

I want to upload the fire hydrant icon to my nuvi200 so i can log all the hydrants in our distict on the gps. Is there a way to get the icon uploaded to the map symbols?

Has anyone experimented with creating an Audiobook with M4B extension and trying in on the 760? If you put the file on the SD card, do you need to create a directory for Audiobooks?

I have had my Garmin 260W for about a month and just started working with POI's.
Using POI Loader, I have successfully loaded some sites on to my GPS. For various reasons, again using the POI Loader,I have removed them.

Don't leave your brain at home when you use your GPS.

In running the POI Loader (Newest one) just now, I received a message that a subfolder was limited to 32 files. I divided the folder up and it ran OK but has this limit always been there? I thought I had other folders that big but maybe not.

Newbie with a Nuvi 360

Hello!

I recently discovered the Garmin Geocache feature. Using that I loaded 10 of the nearest caches. However, is there a way to find them under POI's or in the menu...because currently I can only find treasure boxes on browsing the map...the problem with that is you can't view any additional information on the cache.

Any tips would be appreciated!

I dropped over to my local Staples store today and found a 2gb SD card for my 880, less than $20.

They had the Garmin brand hard sort of beanbag mount for same price as the Garmin shop online, $39.95 I think. Other accessories too.

They had many of the Nuvis there, but no 880s.

I just saw a post in another thread that mentioned buying Ozzy's voice for his GPS. Was just talking with my family today about how much fun could be had with the voices. Didn't realize it was possible but then duh! I got a little bitty computer telling me where I am on the planet's surface so why not custom voices?

Are they available for Garmins and if so, where are the best sources?

Downloaded the 2009 updates and was able to find my son's address in a new sub-division in Bolingbrook Illinois, also, the POI's for the rest stops were a great help.

I have a 25 mile commute around Baltimore to and from work. At first the traffic information I got from my Nuvi 660 (FM TMC) was pretty good but it seems to have gotten worse recently. I'm a traffic junkie, I watch the traffic online before I leave and listen to the reports on the radio. The traffic info I am getting from my Nuvi is usually at least half an hour out of date.

How many songs can you put on a C580 and if you have room for more than that number is there a way to work around it like having 2 sub-folders E.T.C?

I loaded quite a few POI's on my 660 and they work just fine. I loaded the same list on my 680, and it does not alert to any. I can be right on the parking lot and I have it set to alert me within 15000 feet. Is there any settings I am overlooking? Thanks for any suggestions.

get into the "special" system info section - hold the battery power symbol, then go to the audio output test page.

Set the output to FM and additional choices appear. Pick FM power, and then you can increase the value to 115db. This greatly increased my FM transmitter power, but I have not experimented enough to tell if it reverts back to the lower initial value.

I was going to a place in the city when i realized that i wanted to park in a garage. so i opened the parking map and clicked on the nearest one. I was assuming it would ask me if i wanted to add it to my trip, but instead it stopped my original destination and routed me to the garage. Is there some settings that im missing to add places along the way on a trip without losing your final stop?

Maybe this is common knowledge, but I didn't find anything when I did a search. After purchasing my Nuvi 350 I noticed one of the English voices had the same name as my ex. Not a good thing . I downloaded a hex editor and opened the voice file with it. After a little playing around I found a section of code that had 'screen_name' followed by the name I wanted to change.

I have noticed in several posts here that fellow POI-Factory members wishing they could make areas/roads AVOIDABLE when making routes.

With the new Nuvi 8xx series that is valid option under Navigation "Custom Advoids".

For those who own a Nuvi that can import routes from MapSource (7xx, 8xx, Zumo and any others)also have this option available to them using MapSource.
