Sound alerts not working - Nuvi 200 (using wav files)

So i am pretty new at this POI stuff. I did read the FAQ, did read the Garmin FAQ, did read the "How do I load custom sound alerts...". I read and read and read.

I have a Nuvi 200.

This is what I did:

1) Download lastest POI loader from Garmin site.
2) Download sox.exe and place it in program files/garmin directory (poiloader originally prompted me for this location).
3) Ensured all files in directory have same name (poifile.csv/bmp/wav)
4) Ensured wav file was 44100 khz/16bit/mono
5) Ran POI Loader in Manual mode, checked proximity alerts and set to 1320 feet (1/4 mile). Says successfully loaded.
6) Ensured proximity alert is checked in settings on gps unit.

The unit only gives me the visual alert and two dings at the appropriate distance, but does not play my wav file.

I know it does not work with mp3's, and i did it in a wav file.

All help is appreciated.

Sox version?

From a previous thread...

Use this version of SOX:
arrow http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sox/sox12177.zip?modtime=11...

This is an older version (12.17.7). It was the one shipped with POI Loader V2.4.2. Some of the later versions appear not to work.

BTW - Step #4 in your list shouldn't be necessary - that is what POILoader uses SOX for.

Thanks - worked...

Thanks, worked like a charm. I'd suggest adding that info to the FAQ and to the note about adding alerts to the nuvi.

But again, thanks for the quick response and I apologize since this could have been answered by my further reading (but i really did try to search and read!!)
