Edit Via Point Spoken Text

I have made a route in MapSource and I have several Via Points that are made when I drag and drop my route. When this route is loaded into my 760 and I approach one of these via points it will announce arriving at 288 Scotts Ridge Rd on right for example. My question is how do I edit the voice file of this via point and change the text spoken by the unit. Will this same edit change the spoken text of a way point also. I know how to place my own wave files using tour guide but I would prefer the voice of say Gill to announce the point with my edited text being spoken.

naming the viua points

when you make the via point - change the name to anything you want said. the name of the via point is what is announced

you dont need to add any mp3 or wav file.

When I bring up the properties of the via point they are "grayed out" and I am unable to change them. Where am I going wrong? These via points are being made by me dragging the route to a different road or intersection and when I release the mouse button it inserts the via point.

naming the waypoints

you are using the rubber-band method to shape yor route, and you can't rename thr waypoints.

shape your route by placing your waypoints where you want them and then use the routing tool to connect your waypoints to make the route. waypoints made this way can be renamed in the properties box for each waypoint.

another way to make a route is to make all the waypoints first rename them as you want, then use the "Make new route Using Waypoints" under the edit drop down menu. (this tool allows you to arrange the waypoints in the order you want)

Thanks, you are correct I am using the "rubber band" method. I will try your suggestion. I make these routes on the fly for a car club I belong to and I usually try and find the "best" twisting roads. Thanks for you help and quick reply.

Use UnFlag to remove route point flags

There is a unility called UnFlag http://www.fes-software.nl/zumo/unflag.zip that will remove the route flags without removing the route points themselves. This will remove the announcements that you get when reaching those intersections that you dragged the route to. The routing remains the same - it just removes those intermediate flags and annoying announcements.

Thanks

EXCELLENT find. I opened and re-saved my files to .gpx format and ran unflag and it works perfectly. Now I can reset my way point markers and rename them and still use the rubber band mode for doing my routes.

Thanks johnc for your input
