Garmin talk

So far this thing seems to work pretty well...
I'll be driving around ny... bklyn, queens, long island...
I'm an RN dealing with the mentally ill...
And I really want to avoid the red light cameras, so I'm hoping that I am able to download an up-to-date POI file to the NUVI soon, so I can stay out of trouble.

Still having problems downloading more than 1 file.It was suggested in a previous post that I send the files together in a group.I did this to my download section,highlighted them all and sent them to my numi.When I go to my extas icon its headed with "custom pois".when I open it it still has my original file and not the new ones.When I attempt to send the files again I get a menu stating the file

I updated my Garmin 765T last nite to Software
version 3.60
GPS 2.90
DSP 2.40
Text 3.60 (American English)
Voice 2.30 (American English-Jill)

I removed my SD card for the update and I only keep music and POI's on the card, not the GPS. All went well. I left this am for a short trip and then came home. Poi Alerts all worked fine.

How would I back up my 885T to my Computer ?

Has anybody compared the Garmin 885t with 1490T.

I finally decided to get 885T until read gpsmagazine.com review which is very positive (as things going I will keep using my C580 and never upgrade).

I know that there are some bugs with unit.
There are always more real world value from user's experience than a single review.

I am new to GPS units (and to figuing out how to use this site, which I stumbled upon), and with all of the features, functionalities and flaws I have been reading about, cannot figure out how to choose the best Garmin unit now. I am leaning between the 765T and the 855. Can anyone help me?

I've checked the POI Loader FAQ and Garmin FAQ and didn't see anything specific to this question.....

Trying to determine what the maximum limit of POI's that can be installed in a NUVI 660.

I'm aware of the 32 files per folder limit..

Is there a limit in size that all the POI's can take up?
Is there a way of determining remaing space?

Hello to all with newer NUVI's with Lane Assist.

I live just south of Louisville and don't seem to have Lane Assist in Louisville. I also checked for Lane Assist in Albuquerque (none there) and in Los Angeles (have it there.
I am assuming it will be added to more cities as the Map Updates keep coming out.

Albuquerque NM - No
Los Angeles Ca - Yes

Since the last firmware update applied to my 755t early in the week, "MyDashboard" can no longer find the unit. The registration information and maps loaded are correct, and the stand-alone updater still works. Wonder if they're disabled it since there were so many problems/complaints?

I've been tweaking my device in the last couple of days and have been searching for this question: How can I edit my current speed/red light poi's so they only alert me when I am traveling in the camera direction? IE: Most speed/red light cameras are only installed in either West bound or East bound directions.

The other day while playing with the POIs on my new 765T I noticed that the local Home Depot that has been here several years was missing. It is listed in the Home Depot POI file maintained here. I guess my question is, why would I want to load all of the locations again for the one or two that might be missing.

I recently purchased lifetime updates. When I went to update my 770 with the North American 2010.20 maps everything seems to be working fine until I get to the screen in the install that says 'Please select the region you would like to install on your Garmin GPS'. The drop down is blank and I can't choose the Install button because it is greyed out. Any ideas?

I am trying to transfer my New Map Update to my nuvi780 and I get an error message from Mapsource that there is not enough room on the GPS to send the maps.

I thought they just automatically overwrite the old maps to install the new.

Apparently I was wrong or something has changed.

So.... in order to send the update to my GPS what exactly should I delete from the GPS to make room ?

I just got a nuvi 775t and I also have a 780.

I have several times that the details are not displayed anywhere near the same on the 7x5 series compared to the 7x0. The details show at nearly all the closer zoom levels on the 780. PLUS, I can't zoom in to the same level on the 775 ie: I can zoom into the 80ft scale on the 780 but on only to 120ft on the 775.

Is there a setting where I can show the restarea icon all the time for my Garmin NUVI 255W? I installed the combined rest areas file, but the rest areas do not appear on the screen.

Just thought I'd pass this on...

After far to long of dealing with the weak RF on the 660, I decided to tackle this problem..
(I wish there were some hacks out there to increase the RF power..but oh well...)

The answer? A GM-9 AUX box.
The car(s) are a 98 Formula and an 02 TransAm.
Both have the AC Delco Monsoon systems...but dont include an aux input for other goodies.

Anyone with a nuvi 885t.... have you checked or noticed how much built-in internal memoery there is on the unit ?

2GB, 4GB, 8GB ???

Bought5 it from Costco Aug 9th for 272.40 (includes shipping) received it at 12:15pm today from UPS.

Opened box and hooked it to my PC used MapSource to xfer my waypoints and special routes from my 750. Dragged and dropped all my custom POIs from the 750 to the 855.
At 13:04pm went online and registered it with Garmin.

Just joined this stellar site.I am into ham radio and downloaded all the 2 meter locations (thanx POI Factory).I do drive for a living and this will come in very handy.I previously had verizon navigator on my phone which is a dead phone now. Anyway when I download an item it seems to overide the previous download.
