nuvi 660

My Garmin nuvi 660 does not talk anymore. I don't know what to do. I find looking at the screen for directions is distracting while driving. Any solution to this problem?

have you changed the voice?

You do not say if you have made any changes recently to your unit. There are volume controls that might inadvertently been altered.

possibly you have accidently

possibly you have accidently changed this---go to the sound and make sure it is set for "external Output"

another place to look

Did you at some point send the audio output from the internal speaker to your radio by pressing twice quickly on the power button?

don't have a 660 so just curious

Curious, I went to the user manual and looked for that technique and did not find it. Where did you find that feature?

mute, volume, internal speaker--

are the three main things to check. Somehow I threw mine into a weird mode a few months ago, where it was muted. Don't know how I did it, but when I went through checking status on various screens, I saw that it was muted -- that did the trick.

Hope I'm not confusing two Nuvi's

I'm not sure that the feature was in the manual, and I may be confusing the 660 with one of my other Nuvi's. I know it works on my 885, and 98 44/100 percent sure it worked on my 680. I sold my 660 a while back, but I thought that the double tap on the power button worked for all of them.

And if it DOES work for all of them, and it's not in the manual, then I found out about it online - probably here a few years back.
