No sound on my Garmin 760

Hi Guys,
My Garmin Nuvi 760 works fine for a year but recently lost its sound. I can only get sound if I plug in a headphone. Do you think this is a hardware issue?

Is the volume on, as in not set to Mute? Is it set to external speaker? Just trouble-shooting here...

Does it have fm transmitter?
on 765t you go volume..audio output..internal speaker. Could it be it got put on fm tranmitter mode?

If your option is set to "external" isn't that the problem? Shouldn't it be set to "internal?" Set to external, that's why you can only hear it through headphones.

There isn't any settings for speakers. It all started when I used the audio jack to listen to use the mp3 player but when I removed the headphones, the sound went away too.

When you plug in the headphone jack I THINK there is an internal connection possibly inside the jack that disconnects the speaker while the output is directed through the headphone jack. Maybe if the headphone connection was jammed in just right it jammed this cutoff switch open, disconnecting the speaker.
I am not sure if this is something that could be un-jammed by opening up the unit or not. Sometimes those jacks are sealed and sometimes they are not.

It could be something as simple as a bad contact in the jack. Simple, but not necessarily easy to fix because now you're talking about opening up the unit to get inside.

Just try gently re-inserting the jack a few times to see if it will correct itself. You never know.
