Traffic may not be available in the area of the US that you visit. see the traffic coverage maps for where it is available.

Welcome

Hi Kirkland and welcome to the site.

As jgermann stated there are specific areas where the traffic conditions are given and other areas where they're not.

Concerning the speed limit indicator, the following is from Garmins website:

"Question : Where is the speed limit indicator available?

Answer :
The speed limit feature provides a visual indicator of the speed limit for a particular road on the map of the device

This feature is available on most major roads in the following areas:

Europe
United States
Australia
Middle East
Southern Africa
Greece
Turkey
* Please note this feature is not available in Canada at this time."

Cheers

Try This.

Hi Kirkland, welcome to the board. Many of us "north of the border" have asked this same question, have a look at this thread.

Apparently, if enough of us complain then Garmin may include it in a future map update.
Here is the direct link to the form on the Garmin web site.

Canada Driving

I took my 765T up to Mississauga two weeks ago from Long Island to visit family. As soon as I crossed the border, the speed limit display went away. What has me curious is what information is missing in the map to display this. Supposedly speed limit information is missing but I don't quite buy that. The GPS is able to calculate time of arrival while in Canada and to do that it requires speed limit information. When I left Mississauga to head back home, I had an estimated time of arrival to Long Island displayed. The QEW has a limit of 100km/h but I was moving with the flow at about 125km/h. As I got close to Niagara Falls, I noticed that the ETA gone backward a few minutes. Obviously the GPS was aware that I was going faster than it expected so it adjusted the ETA downward. So, it must have some awareness of the speed limits in Canada otherwise it would not be able to calculate ETA's.

The map's speed limit data & road classification data are two different aspects of the map data. Roads are classified by type, and different road types have default maximum speed limits. This is how routes and arrival times are calculated.
