first let me say you guys on here do a great job uploading POI files, etc..great to now have updated ones for my new GPS..

That being said I am trying to update my old Speed and Red Life Camera Files for Canada and I have done so. The Red Light Camera files seem to have updated nicely, but the Speed Files attached are all U.S. Am I missing something, are there no Canuck files?

By base, I mean that the basic subscription that is included with the purchase of Garmin GPS' that offer "lifetime traffic", not the other providers you have to purchase.

I'm finding that its basically useless. Perhaps if there's information on UNEXPECTED delay, maybe it will be.

I have the c340 and the Nuvi 50LM. I have both downloaded files from here to use as well as created my own personal ones.

I did some search on the old c340 only to find out you can not load poi files to a SD card. At least this is what was stated under the faq.

When downloading POI files, what is the difference between a CSV format and a GPX format? Thanks.

My son and I made a short trip to a friends house I don't think I'd been to before last Sunday. We both use Garmins all the time but we took his truck which didn't happen to have one of his Garmins in it. So we used his Motorolla Razor. He was driving so I held it. He'd briefly used his phone before but he was holding it those times.

Since Borders Books went out of business (at least in the US, I believe), & remnants of the stores were picked up by Barnes & Noble (I'm not quite certain of this) - where does it put the status of the two POI files we have at the POI Factory???

I had a 255w and that one read down to 0.1 mile and with that resolution, how it rounded didn't really matter.

My 1350 will show "next turn in 1.2 miles" and such so I know the internally its able to resolve it, but for whatever reason, the odometer will no longer read to tenth of a mile and I don't like the way it rounds.

I have a 1350 and ever since I installed 5.70, I've been having abrupt shut downs. I enter the address and when I hit go, the unit shuts off abruptly as if I pulled the battery.

When I restart, it does not register in the recently found and it takes time to reacquire satellite as if its a new start.

In error log, I see

This may be a wild stab in the dark, but let me ask with the hope that someone out there knows the answer.

I connected by nuvi 680 to its base today. Normally this action causes my nuvi to turn on when I start my car or otherwise supply power to the 12V adapter/MSN-Direct antenna -- but not today. The LED in the power adapter lights up.

What is the best new Nuvi out there right now ?

does anyone here know of a way to save and load tracks (bread crumbs )with the nuvi 265wt?

every gps I have will let me save my tracks to the SD card except this GARMIN nuvi 265wt or i can not figure out how to save the tracks.
i bought this due to price and screen size and am real pleased it has a much larger internal memory than the others.

I noticed that on my Nuvi 765t (and I'm sure not only on this model), searching by category is very fast, but searching by name takes forever. That is, if I try to find the nearby ski resort by tying its name, it takes about 2 minutes, but if I navigate by categories, it's found in seconds. Wondering, is this by design, or maybe some indexing is broken in the unit and could be fixed?

I seem to recall somewhere a modification of some sort that would allow the Garmin Nuvi to output NMEA data. Does anybody happen to recall a URL for that?

is it me or do you guys find it odd that when we have a planned route, you can see where traffic is depending upon if the car icon on your screen is green, yellow, red, etc. But, in order to actually see where the traffic is, you have to take your eyes off the wheel and do a search to find out what is going on..

I was just curious if there are any significant differences between the major manufacturers of GPS units? Or are they all pretty much the same thing.

Hi, I bought a new nuvi 2250 and it's good. It has speed cameras as POI preloaded into it as well as 2 alert sounds a single tone and a continuous tone.

I want to change 1 alert sound into a custom sound, how do I do this?

My car charger for my 260w died and was wondering why a standard mini USB charger makes the unit think it is connected to a PC.I asume it is the way it's wired.I have so many mini USB adapters I just hate to buy the Garmin replacement if I don't have to.

Another lister mentioned having the battery replaced as well as the touch screen to keep their old Garmin going.

I love my older Garmin.

Where would one go to have the battery replaced? How much does this sort of thing cost? Can I do it myself?

Thought I’d share this with you. Being bored with winter and awaiting maps to load, I created some custom splash screens.
This was done for my Nuvi 2460LMT with the 5” screen. I pulled up one of the 2460’s included jpg’s and discovered the default resolution was 480 X 232..
