Have a nuvi 260 with a broken on/off switch. cost too much to send back to garmin or even have others fix as can take apart myself. however, cannot find anywhere to get part.
Anyone know anywhere or something?

Did you try Garmin?
Did you try going to the Garmin support page and entering your serial number and other information and seeing what options they offer? They may just ask you to send it in but it seems worth clicking through the steps to see if they would sell you the part.
Other than that, you may be able to get a switch from Radio Chack or Parts Express to work but it will probably not be pretty.

If you're comfortable making repairs, look for a parts unit (aka hanger queen) on a place like eBay -- we've had a succession of 660/680 units repaired off a guaranteed-not-to-work unit from eBay.
