3790 will not connect in "MyDashboard"

Downloaded and installed updated 3790 firmware a week or so ago and today went to connect in "My Garmin" "MyDashboard" and it just says scanning for device and never connects. I down loaded and installed communicator plugin 401 and Webupdater 254 on my laptop which has never had any Garmin software on it and it won't work either. Anyone have any Ideas?

MTP?

Could it be that you need to change your MTP setting?

Other than that, a defective cable seems a possible candidate for a nuvi that used to connect to a computer but no longer does.

Extensions

Add any extensions like NoScript lately?

I don't recall downloading

I don't recall downloading and extesions lately. Besides I doubt it would do that on both computers. I hardly ever use the laptop. I also doubt the cable went bad because the web updater program works just fine.

latest Garmin communicator plug in was causing problems

I have read that the latest version of Garmin communicator plug in was causing problems.

Good point, I guess we need to ask which browser is being used on the two PCs. And if the OP used something else but has Internet Explorer available, to try using it.

I just connected my nuvi 750 to myGarmin with IE 9 on Windows7, updated to the new Garmin Communicator, and found that myGarmin connects to my nuvi as it has in the past.

No

No MTP issue on the 3790.

Communicator 4.0.1 works fine with my 3790 using Firefox as my browser, although I'm still at firmware version 4.60 and haven't updated yet to 4.70.

Was using IE9. Just tried Firefox and same thing will not connect in "MyDashboard" I think it was the new firmware 4.7 that is the culprit.

.

I use FF 3.6.25, have the new plugin, and 4.7. It works fine for me.

Does your unit show up as a drive in the file manager? If not, try rebooting and maybe another micro-usb cable.

Yes it does. Been e-mailing

Yes it does. Been e-mailing Garmin support now for a few days and they don't have a clue. Device is recognized in both webupdater and communicator, but just hangs at the "gathering info stage".

.

If you're using NoScript, try allowing the whole page. It sounds like a script is not being allowed to run.

A challenge

Wow, this is a challenge for sure, especially since the problem persists with multiple computers and multiple browsers and that the GPS is seen by the computer and Garmin's WebUpdater.

Is there any chance that your antivirus, internet security or firewall settings could be preventing a needed communication between your computer/GPS and Garmin's myDashboard? ...or possibly a router security setting?

It'd be great if you could find someone else with a 3790 and cable and see if your computer and myGarmin can connect to a 2nd 3790. If so, then a Garmin warranty replacement would be the next step.

I've put mygarmin.com in IE9

I've put mygarmin.com in IE9 as a trusted site. I've shut off the firewall and the Antivirus. I've never touched anything on the router. It all started when I updated the Nuvi firmware to the latest. I suppose it could be a coincidece. I may bring it over to a friends house and try his computer but it does it on both my PC and laptop.

.

DL the FW again on the webupdater, and over write it. Or, try a hard reset.

Did both still nothing. For the heck of it I powered up an old XP machine I had and downloaded the Garmin Communicator on that machine. Didn't work either. That's now 3 different machines and still nothing. Garmin thinks it's some setting somewhere that got changed, but if it doesn't work on 3 different machines using different browsers I'm not so sure. All this started when I downloaded the FW last week.

Garmin should throw in the towel

Garmin should throw in the towel and offer a warranty replacement of your nuvi and cable.

Is there a way to go back to the old firmware???

I think there is but I do not know how. That would give us the answer.

Nuvi 2460LMT.

same issue on the 3760

myDashboard keeps searching. Plugin reports everything is ok; GPS is accessible via Windows Explorer; WebUpdater works fine (was able to finally update Traffic via WebUpdater).
