Garmin talk

I purchased lifetime maps for my nuvi 260W two years ago. At one point in the not-too-distant past, while attempting to download the newest map, I received a message that I lacked sufficient space for the entire d'load, so I was "given" the Lower 49 maps.

Since then I have done some deleting and made adequate space; however, when I am offered the newest maps, the only choice is the Lower 49.

I can't load POI Loader to my HP Computer Win 7. I get a alert saying: This is an unsupported OS Version. This application requires Win XP SP2 or greater.

Have a nuvi 260 with a broken on/off switch. cost too much to send back to garmin or even have others fix as can take apart myself. however, cannot find anywhere to get part.

Anyone know anywhere or something?

Garmin has released City Navigator North America 2012.40 today.

It appears to be a phased in update with some users seeing the availability via myMaps and others not. I couldn't see it from there or the Lifetime Update program but selecting Download from the Map Updates section of myDashboard and then picking Option 2, resulted in the new maps being downloaded to my 3790.

Map update showing available for both my nuvi's as of 11:38 am CST.

Interesting article in The New York Times. I have to admit that my GPS has taken away a lot of the thought process I used to use when I need to figure out how to get someplace.

MY garmin nuvi 50lm will not aquire a signal inside my vehicle. It works everywhere else. Any clues what the problem might be?

A friend has a Nuvi 1300. I would like to help him learn the many benefits of the GPS in developing routes, etc. He bought it new and it did not come with a disk. He therefore does not have the MapSource program. We have downloaded Base Camp, but I'm more comfortable with MapSource.

How do you install MapSource without the orginal disk.

I realize that this is the POI Factory forum, but since Garmin does make watches, I am just curious if anybody here has one. Now while I am not such a hard core fitness person, I would be inclined to get one just for the portability factor of a device that determines GPS coordinates! Well, that is if they weren't so expensive.

I load my redlight pois with Poiloader with with default alert, but I keep getting the continuous warning box of Variable speed alerts...it took over the control of my GPSr, could not input any destination at all. I had to connect it to the laptop to remove them. It happens very frequently...my mnodel is 265WT Nuvi... no speed notation in file name or insi9de the poi

I'm considering a new device, but would like a model that features voice recognition (not to be confused with text to speech aka spoken street names).

I'm looking at the 2495LMT, but the reviews are mixed.

What do you think?

How does one find how much storage GPS models have?
Is there a place online that might have that information?

I have not tested it yet.

Amazon is also selling the 1350 LTM and the 1450 LTM for roughly $130.00.

If you need it the lifetime maps and updates for NA are about $65.00.

I have a Garmin 2460 LMT. In April my daughter starts driving and I am going to give her this unit. I wish to purchase a new unit that has the LMT feature but with a screen at least as large as the 2460. I have looked at the Garmin web site but wanted the experienced users on this forum to advise if the Garmin 3590 LMT is indeed the correct choice.

Downloaded and installed updated 3790 firmware a week or so ago and today went to connect in "My Garmin" "MyDashboard" and it just says scanning for device and never connects. I down loaded and installed communicator plugin 401 and Webupdater 254 on my laptop which has never had any Garmin software on it and it won't work either. Anyone have any Ideas?

Does anyone know if there is a way to get custom waypoint symbols into base camp on the Mac? I know you can import them from your gps unit but I would like to enter them directly into the program.
