Magellan talk

Can someone tell how to change the alerts from beeps/dings to something else, so that I could distinguish an upcoming speed trap...I have a Magellan 2200T...

Here is my plan: I returned the TT to the store as I had only 14 days to evaluate it and be able to return it with no questions asked. However Costco, where I purchased the Magellan, allows one to return GPS units anytime within *1 year* of the purchase! I believe Magellan indicates that there will be map updates for the 4250 by September 2008. Okay how reliable do you think this date is?

I've just purchased a Magellan 4250 GPS
Before starting to tinker and add POI's etc..
Is there a way to backup the GPS as is, just in case something goes wrong and i need to revert back?

There was a disc in the box, but its only the readers manual.

How in the world can POIs be loaded into the unit?

I'm a newbie and I've read several posts that hint on detection angles, and my user manual doesn't explain it, so I'm looking for a an explanation. What does it mean when I set the detection angle to 90, or 30?

This CSV file has commas to seperate the fields. When I open the CSV file and assign the columns as Longitude, Latitude and so on, it's ok until I reach a column with the address, or Description. Within the Description, there are commas, which the Editor sees as a separate field. Confused? Sorry about that.

I just went to the Magellan website and i see that there is a new firmware update for the 4250.

firmware 4.60.

it states the following.

Like several others have done, I purchased a Magellan Maestro 3225 from Costco.

I noticed TomTom and Garmin have the ability to import routes from Google Maps. A question I have for those of you who have been around longer, is how do you import a route?

I looked on here and a few other areas and haven't been able to find a good answer to what a "Detection Angle" is and why you would need to change it. Any help?

I am not really getting anywhere with that and have another question.

How do the garmin maps get their updates?

On a recent trip from Virginia to NC, my M3225 created a route that was almost 100 miles longer than needed. It had me going 47 mile further south and returning on a parallel road. I was familiar with the area and immediately realized the error. I then tried to recreate the route several different ways, but it kept giving the longer one until I set it for "shortest distance".

Any comments on traffic subscripton with Magellan? Ho well it work etc? They are currently giving 1 year free subscription to any traffic enabled Magellan gps.

I just purchased Roadmate 1412 for $149 at Costco for my first time GPS unit. BTW, what is the average time for the unit to find POI by names? Roadmate took like over 1 minute! Is this normal?

Just bought a 2gb sd card for the 3250..anyone know how to have the maestro read it without the sd card loader??

Hi group,

I noticed that my 3225 gives an alert both ahead of an object and again when leaving it. This occurs with my Rest Area and Red Light Cameras files, and is not caused by POI's on the other side of the road.

Is there any way to set it to trigger an alert only when approaching a POI?

I've had my 4040 for a little less than a year now and just starting looking into adding POI's. I couldn't believe that there were no Dunkin Donuts listed for my area when there must be a dozen or more close by.
