Magellan talk

After installing red light cam alerts, my 4250 now does not announce the street or freeway exit names??? It will say " Right turn" but no names???? I transferd the POI file to SD card, drag n drop.. Any help??Thoughts?

Hello, I have an older Magellan Roadmate 700 that has been working great. Last Friday, it started having trouble locking and maintaining a signal. I have a SATRAD that has been perfect the whole time my Magellan has been losing the signal, so I ruled out external influences. Is there some way of checking if the internal antennae is loose or something? Any suggestions?

I cannot barely hear my voice commands thru my headsets from a CD player. I use this on my motorcycle and would really like to hear as well as see the voice prompts. I do have an input plug on my Harmon-Cardon Harley radio but not sure even with this it would help.

Any ideas?

I just got this thing and the main thing I thought is the map data would be somewhat updated or at lease the maker would allow one free update, guess not.

I was trying to add Nekoosa, WI addressing that is mostly numbers and not street names. It has a hard time with this and I also noticed other brands are the same.

Has anyone found away around this?

Hi just wondering I followed instructions trying to load poi on to gps I send it to gps after hooking up ubs cables and nothing happens any suggestions

What is detection angle, and how does it work? If I have a POI file that does not have this data will it effect anything?

I just got back from my first real drive using a Magellan Maestro 4040 ($100 refurb unit). Previously I've used only DeLorme software on a laptop with their software. My experience suggest that the 4040 is a close match for a half-blind map-dyslexic assistant reading an obsolete paper map.

I downloaded 4 poi files to my computer. How do I get them to my gps? I have the Magellan poi editor but when I click on the poi file it will not show up in the left box to transfer.

I downloaded the hundred meg file of version 2.36, and was wondering, does this update invalidate warranties etc?

Also, Is anyone familiar with that version and is the update really a better difference? I appreciate the input.

I downloaded the POI for complete state parks, but when I opened it in Magellan POI editor, it said something like "fields name latitude required". So it appears that maybe that POI is not for Magellan? It is a CSV, and the default for import is MGLN. Do i need to convert? Sorry, new to the GPS scene.

Does anyone have an opinion on the voice control download for the maestro 4040 is it worth the money ($100)? Steve

Hi! New to forum. I recently purchased a refurb 4040 is the unit supposed to recognize and connect to my cellphone automatically or must I use the connect icon each time. Is there any other plce to get map updates other than the Magellan site? Thanks for your help. Steve

Just started this site and I love it. I got a couple of icons and I would like to know how I could download them to my Megellan 4040? And how could I view the current icons ( where is the file at? ). Also, there has to be a way where I can load sound files as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

While I was attempting to enter some poi's through the editor, it asks for altitude which was not in the files I downloaded It would not let me proceed without it. What do people do in this case?

Hello, I’m new to using GPS. I researched and bought the Magellan Maestro 3250, needed “Route Optimization” with smaller carry size. Friend has Garmin 760 with better display and ability to enter Longitude/Latitude coordinates. Read where some people not sure about using POI Factory with Magellan. You need the Magellan POI File Editor Program.

I have a Maestro 3225 North America (from Costco for $145) and I want to buy the 3250 for $182. Is that a good idea to buy it at that price or wait maybe Costco will have them @ the same price as the 3225?
