How do I transfer a POI file from my computer to my GPS unit via USB cable?
I've tried clicking the green arrow icon in the Magellan POI File Editor. It prompts me to save the file. I do. But no transfer is made.

Any suggestions?

my husband works for CSX railroad and ran into some men that worked for the company that had Magellan GPS that had a program where they typed in the railroad mileposts and it took them there. Does anyone know anything about how to get Railroad information for the GPS and could tell us how to do it. He just got his magellan and we really don't know anything on creating files or POI.

Hey I have a crossover that I really love. Has anyone else had trouble with poi files that have several comas in them? I put them in excel and find 3 or 4 comas in one cell. Of course when I put the pois in the Magellan converter program it creates a new cell for each coma and then to go through each poi and remove them would take several hours or more.

I seem to be limited to about 5 - 15 minutes of battery only operation. If I keep forcing the unit to power up it will run again for 5 - 15 minutes. The battery indicator will yield random charge amounts on each power up. ???

Is there a way to force the unit to retain power till the battery is fully discharged so I might sync the charge sampler/indicator to the actual battery state?

For any Maestro 3225 owner who has already purchased and installed this update, and who also previously updated their unit with the 6 Million POI DATA file, how much better is the new update? In what way? Do you consider it worth the current sale price?

I just picked up a refurbished Magellan Maestro 4250 on ebay for $119 with free shipping in the US. It looks like they have a bunch left if anyone is interested. It still has the 3 month traffic subscription included as well. I will let everyone know how it is when I receive it.

I finally purchased a GPS and hooked up my Roadmate 1412 to my pc after installing the POI editor. The PC recognizes the GPS as a removable storage device, but the POI editor would not let me transfer any files to the GPS.

I was able to copy the file over via Windows explorer just fine and the GPS did recognize the new POI file.

I just saw that Navteq released their traffic patterns 4.0. Is it possible to get it and put it on Magellan 5310?

Do I need this software to load red camera POI file to my 4350.

Is it better to put this file on a microsd card or on the internal memory need assistance. Thankyou.

just recieved maestro 4350 I installed disc no POI editor software What can i do?

I am in the market for a new GPS after my Roadmate 760 died a few weeks back. I can get a new Roadmate 1430 from Magellan for $195, but I can also get a new Maestro 4250 for about $170. I have seen plenty of input on the 4250, but not much on the 1430. Does anyone have any experience with the either unit?

VERY new at this, so I'm confused. Can you get the 4040 to display the description field? For example, I'm planning to upload a list of Rest Stops in CA only, that have dump facilities for my RV. If I understand other comments in the Forum, using the POI editor, you can't cause a Magellan to display "RV dump" as a description??????

My Magellan 5310 shows a particular distance of the POIs from the current location but when I ask it to route to that destination, it gives me a distance always 2-5 miles more than initially said. I tried all the options like shortest distance, fastest time, avoid freeways, always take freeways, but still no luck. Any ideas if it can be fixed?

I recently purchased a new Maestro GPS. Is there any way to copy the updated maps from this unit onto my old 3225? I'd rather not have to buy the new maps if I can avoid it.

Can we change the icon which gives our present location on Magellan 5310? If not, is it possible to connect a USB cable and change the .bmp or whatever type of file that icon belongs to forever by replacing it with a new one?

I just got my 1400. I went to register it on Magellan's website and the website said my S/N was wrong. I checked it three times. The S/N on the back was the same as the S/N on the package. I tried to re-enter it on the website and it got refused each time. I e-mailed Magellan. They told me to go into the unit's program and get the S/N. It is the same as the other two locations.
