Magellan Maestro 2008/2009 Map Update - NA NOW ON SALE $47.99(UPDATE: SALE HAS ENDED)

at the Magellan website:

For any Maestro 3225 owner who has already purchased and installed this update, and who also previously updated their unit with the 6 Million POI DATA file, how much better is the new update? In what way? Do you consider it worth the current sale price?

Question to add to Maestro 2008/2009 Map Update

Someone out there might know this. I have a Matestro 3100 as a backup unit, and I believe it has very limited memory. Will the 6M POI database included in this update fit in the 3100 memory? If it won't fit, is there some hack to put the new POI database on an SD card?

2008/2009 Map Update & Maestro 3100

akapauan, since the Magellan website lists the Maestro 3100 as being compatible with the 2008/209 Map Update, I would think that either the new POI database will fit, or that Magellan would provide a user friendly way of getting it to work off of an SD card, although that may be wishful thinking.

Map Update Only

For Maestro 3200 owners: According to the Magellan Customer Service you can't update POI, but map only.

I assume all other models with factory installed 1.3M POI can't get updated to 6M POI with the purchase of the 2008/09 Map Update disk.

Magellan Maestro 2008/2009 Map Update - NA NOW ON SALE $47.99

I checked the site and it says $79.99 not $47.99

I've noticed the same today.

I've noticed the same today. I believe we'll see similar deals again very soon.

the deal is gone.

the deal is gone.
Also I bought the Maestro 4000 for $85. so I don't really think $48 is worth. Just my two cent. smile

Using POI off of SD card on Magellan 3200

There is a way to use poi's on your sd card. All you have to do is edit one small file to tell the software to look on the sd card.

Just edit the F:\APP\Media.cfg file and change the

# POI Map Data
\SDMMC Card\

Map Update and not POI's update

Magellan Maestro 2008/2009 Map Update doesn't have anything with POI's. This is map update only. When I asked one of their customer representatives about the POI's update the answer was that POI's don't get updated but they get more accurate since the new map is more accurate. rolleyes

Maybe you need to ask again. The web site clearly states, in more than one place, that the POI's are updated also. This is for the Maestro line; other models may be different.

I specifically asked the question and was put on hold while the representative checked the answer. After I updated the map (and firmware that came with the map update as well) I haven't noticed any change in number and quality (as well) of the factory installed POI's. My unit really came with only 1.3M POI's so there could be different story with 6M POI's units.

I'm one of those "6M POI's" on SD card users grin so I wasn't so crazy that POI's weren't updated.

2008/2009 map update

Anyone tried out the new map update, any comments about the look or is it pretty much the same?

Updated POIs

I have updated both the maps and AAA info and cannot notice any difference. Unless you have a specific outdated or new entry, tracing these is impossible.

With 6000 POIs even seemingly insignificant corporate identities (like my small company) or a local tile showroom are listed.

Depending upon the version of your map and/or the number of POIs will determine its value to you. So far it has been worth the investment to me.

Maestro 3100

This unit originally had only 750K of POI's, but FIRMWARE update 2.18 bumped it up to 1.3M.

Your unit, depending on when purchased, may have come with FIRMWARE version 2.18 already installed.

The Maestro 31xx models have been dropped by Magellan. Amazon is clearing them out now for 69 bucks a pop.

I think that the 2008/2009 Map update is now going for $49.00.

$49.99

It's showing $49.99 right now
