Just EXACTLY what did you do with the CD ??
When you put it in the drive and wait a bit, it should auto-run and produce a "menu" page.
One of the options on mine (4250) is "Install the POI Manager". That IS the POI Editor.

If auto run does not work,

If auto run does not work, just look of the install.exe this sometime works and it will execute the main install menu.

.

Here is how to manually install the manager step by step:

- Put the CD in your drive.

- Open the 'My Computer' icon on your desktop.

- RIGHT click on your CD drive icon.

- A drop down menu will appear. Choose "Open".

- This will open a window that shows the files and folders on the CD.

- Double click the "Downloads" folder.

- Inside the "Downloads" folder will be another folder called "Downloads".

- Double click on that.

- Now you will see a file called Setup.exe That is the install program for the POI Editor.

- Double click on Setup.exe and the install should start......

Where is POI editor

I've looked on the disc to and can't find the editor, it's not in downloads, think they left it out

If you'd be so kind, I'd like to know what you think of the 4350 compared to the 755T.

I love both in there on

I love both in there on ways, 4350 has more route options (4) that you can take, the graphics are great, haven't tried blue tooth yet, but most of all I love the Triple A POI's, It's nice to know the quality of hotel or eatery. 755T is also great, love the traffic and being able to check gas prices, also has great screen, I'm not in to Voice or Blue tooth so I'm saying 4350 just by a hair, plus it's pretty cheap now $275. But either way you can't go wrong. Me it's the AAA Guide.

......and don't make it harder than it really IS. The disk should autorun. One of the main screen graphics should be a link to install the "Poi loader" which really is the editor.

If that doesn't do it....or you have a MAC or maybe Vista, call Magellan.

Thanks, LOstn6tz for your informative review. They both seem like nice units.

I'm a little confused about you mentioning you can check gas prices on the 755T. How can you do this?

Traffic Receiver

With the traffic receiver you can check weather and gas, it's and upgrade traffic receiver from garmin
around $100.00 Here's Link

re: Traffic Receiver

Ok...thanks LOstn6tz.

If you wanted to do that with MSN, then you should probably just buy the 785T that comes with the MSN receiver.

I live in an area without MSN coverage, so I don't need it.

Thanks again for your help. smile

POI File Editor

Poi Editor

If the installation disk does not autorun do this

Click start Run and type in D:\avvia.exe index.html replace the D with what the cd drive is. I had the same problem.

POI editor

FWIW, My 1200-US came with an almost completely useless CD. It has a "webpage" with hyperlinks to the Magellan website, and the user manual. Nothing more. Except for the manual, the CD isn't worth the cost to reproduce.
I downloaded the POI editor linked here, but it does not recognize the .POI files used by the 1200-US.
Anyone know of an editor that can open the 48US.poi file used by the 1200?

Thanks in advance.

There isn't such tool to

There isn't such tool to open .poi files. Those files are protected and it isn't manufacturer interest to let us open and edit those files. The editor we're talking about here is good for custom poi files only. Those files are with .mgln extension.

No POI editor on disk

There doesn't seem to be an editor on the enclosed CD. The only item that shows up in the download folder is the Warranty.pdf file.
If you compare the Manuals between the 4250 and the 4350 you will find that there isn't any mention of the editor in the 4350 manual, there is in the 4250 manual.
I've downloaded the Magellan Maestro POI editor from the web, but it doesn't recognize the GPS.
If you look at the GPS menus, there doesn't seem to be one for your own POIs other than the address book. Going to keep playing, but may be out of luck until there is a software update...

POI Editor

Your right there is no editor on disc, people say there is but its not, I'm also waiting for and update, I downloaded and editor also but it doesn't see my 4350 either, been checking on line for a update for this problem. Other wise pretty nice. P.S. There is an update on firmware, but not for the above.

What a crock......

Any individial of average intelligence would think that a newer unit with a higher model number would retain ALL the important features of the older, lower numbered models.....YES ??

NOT WITH MAGELLAN. They are known for screwing around with important features like that. It would appear to me that you are out of luck.

If you want user, custom POIs, it would appear that you need to get a different unit.....as it is HIGHLY unlikely that the feature will be added later.

Not only can you not load POIs, you can't back anything up from the GPS to your computer. That USB connector is pretty useless.....except for a power connection.
