Magellan POI editor does not see GPS

I finally purchased a GPS and hooked up my Roadmate 1412 to my pc after installing the POI editor. The PC recognizes the GPS as a removable storage device, but the POI editor would not let me transfer any files to the GPS.

I was able to copy the file over via Windows explorer just fine and the GPS did recognize the new POI file.

Has anyone else had this issue where the GPS is not recognized by the editor, but is recognized by the pc.

I am using XP SP2.

I'm not familiar with the Roadmate series; those users should be by soon.

A wild guess: The editor expects to see an SD card in the Roadmate to put the POIs there ???

Another wild guess: Might depend on which you do first. Start editor first vs connect Roadmate to PC first ??

Magellan Maestro 4250// MIO C310X

probably....

I have Maestro 4000 one. I don't hook up my GPS to the computer. Instead, I just generate a .ngln file and put it on a SD card. After that, I put that card into the unit and choice the file from the unit. That's it. Pretty simple.
