The Garmin Communicator is not recognized in Safari - OSX 10.6.
I am awaiting Garmin's response to see when an update is to be released.

I am unable to get the sounds and most icons to work with my Kenwood DNX5140 (garmin software). I make sure all the file names are the same (i.e chase.gpi, chase.bmp, chase.mp3). Is there something with the macs that prevent the icons and sounds? If not, then what am I doing wrong? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

POI loader is working fine between my MacBook Pro and my Garmin Nuvi 465T. What I have not figured out how to do is upload the POI files to Road Trip so I also have them on my computer. Any suggestions/helps?

Hello, I am new to all this. I am unable to upload a poi I downloaded to my iMac. After I downloaded the poi I used Garmin POI Loader to create a poi.gpi file. I then burned it to a rw-dvd but kept getting "bad disc." I tries several more discs but got the same answer. Anybody know what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

I see that some people have been able to download the new map update. I have not had success as of yet. Every time I try, I get good speed for a while, then, according to Little Snitch, the download is terminated. I know traffic is probably heavy, but still and all...

Has anyone developed a script to automatically download POI files? For example, I have a number of restaurant POIs that I like to keep updated. Rather than searching each and every POI on the website and comparing dates, I'd rather double click an icon or type a command to just download the most current version of all my specified POIs from poi-factory.com.

I am trying to send a map location to my Garmin.Communicator is working. Google will not give me a choice to send a map location anywhere except via email.

Is this a problem that Google has with Macs?

I upgraded my Safari.app to the newly released Safari 4 (not the beta). I downloaded the latest Communicator plugin (v2.7.1.0) and installed it. Then I went to the Garmin “Communicator plugin test page“ and it’s not recognizing the plugin.

Anyone else experiencing this behavior?

Mac Pro (Intel) Mac OS 10.5.7 and Safari v4.0 (not the beta).

I have a nuvi 350 and a Garmin POI loader. With them, I've been able to install POI files with .csv and .gpx extenders but not with .gpi extenders which came from Garmin. I don't understand...?!

Using OS X 10.4.11 and Garmin Mac POI Loader 2.1.0

I get the following quirky behaviour.

If I create a POI file using Manual Method and a Proximity Distance from a CSV file on my IMac and written back to the IMac then transfer the resulting GPI file onto my Nuvi 360, the proximity distances are not set in the GPI on the Nuvi.

I purchased the 2010 Lifetime maps and have a question on installing on Road Trip. I see the installer puts the maps on the computer first thing and then updates the GPS. I can't find where the 2010 maps are. I have a file for the 2009 maps I installed last year, and the 2010 shows as a choice on Road Trip, but I do not find the file either on the GPS on on the Mac.

An update to WebUpdater for Mac 2.0.6 has been posted. Nothing new in this unless you own a Zumo.

The Garmin Communicator plugin won’t install into my Safari 4 (beta). Has anybody else experienced this problem?

In the meantime, I’m reverting back to Safari 3...

Hi all, has anybody had problems with routes that are setup in RoadTrip not translating into the same routes once transferred to a Nuvi? I setup a route recently, transferred it, then imported the route on the Nuvi (755T) using the Custom Data button. The Nuvi recalculated the route at import and made a change at the end, trying to put me onto a nonexistent road that RoadTrip correctly avoided.

I'm not new to NAV units but I am new to the Garmin 760.

I need help understand the POI process and how it works. While my questions may not be totally Mac oriented I thought I'd start here amongst my Mac friends.

I did a search here for these terms: Back up and Backing up, but got no hits that apply to backing up my GPS on a Macintosh.

I clone my Mac once a week to an external HD. That way, if anything goes wrong, I start up from that HD and my OS looks exactly as it did a/o the time I made the clone.

I'm away from home where all my literature is and I realize I forgot to install the new map into Road Trip on my new iBook. I have the map and I have the unlock code with me but I can't remember or find how I put the map into Road Trip on my iMac at home. I'm looking for instructions from someone whose memory is better than mine.

Not sure it's the desktop mapping solution that I'm looking for. I think I prefer doing the route in Mapquest and then transferring.

What say you?

Is there any way to use my Nuvi to automatically geotag the photos I take in either iPhoto '09 or Flickr?
