Garmin POI Loader 2.0.2.1 Beta

For your info I downloaded Garmin POI Loader 2.0.2.1 Beta for my Mac several weeks ago. Have had no problems and it works fine in the manual mode for entering POIs,
Using a 1.8 PowerPC G5 MacIntosh with OS X 10.4.11 desktop. Have not tried it yet on my older Mac laptop. Will let you know when snowbird this winter down south.

Bobcat is now renamed RoadTrip for Mac 2.0.1. Its features (taken from Garmin web site):

-transfer waypoints, tracks, and routes between your Mac and Garmin device and manage your data using your Garmin maps.

-search for points of interest from the convenience of your Mac and then send the locations to your Garmin GPS.

Tips for using Numbers, Pages and TextEdit for creating CSV files

I've used Appleworks spreadsheets and the AW word processor to make .csv files in the past. Since AW is pretty long in the tooth and no longer supported nor distributed with the Mac, I decided to try to use the newer iWork apps Numbers and Pages to create .csv files of POIs.

I spent several hours discovering some unexpected pitfalls and figuring out how to work around them.

mac problems

I seem to be having problems following instructions for creating csv files. Part of the problem is that I am using a Mac and it won't let me save some files with the csv extension. when I find a program that does let me save a file, then the poi loader says there are no files in the folder. I t does, however, recognize and use the csv files downloaded from the factory.

Hi All,

In case you don't know, there's a site with a template, which allows you to create a .gpx POI file, specifically for the Garmin Nuvi.

Garmin POI loader Mac

HI all

The garmin loader does not recognize ( the csv file is dimmed in the finder)
What gives?

Many thanks
Steve

Making CSV files with word, ecell, or FileMaker when you reach the max of your favorites

I have a garmin nuvi 260W which I found had a 500 max Favorites limit (which sucks because using Google Map’s send feature was sooooooo easy) and a Mac (powerbook pro running OSX 10.5). Now I’m stuck having to make csv files which I find a real pain.

POI loader crashing/Audio fles

Hello everyone, I have this problem I'm trying to load .wav files as audio alerts using Garmin POI Loader on a Garmin Nuvi 260 running OSX 10.5 Leopard and the program crashes every time but if I do it without any audio files it loads perfectly. Now I'm not sure if my audio files are 16bit wav files because Im not sure how to do that, but I know they are wav. Do you think this is the problem?

Print from Bobcat

Has anyone been able to print from within Bobcat? I have done a screen capture as a work around, but it seems like I should be able to print from within Bobcat.

Thanks,

Mike

Rest Areas Combined

Miss POI,

I wonder if you would do us the favor of again opening the Rest Areas Combined file and re-saving. It has been updated and is again presenting itself with a double extension when downloaded by a Mac user. Thanks.

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

Garmin 276c - Mac - WP/POI

Hi there,

I've just registered on this forum and I am trying to figure how I can use the POI files listing speed camera (of South Africa) into my GPS and set-up a proximity alert automatically for all of them... only using my mac.

I am using the latest version of Bobcat, and I can easily upload/download WP from/to my unit/mac but when I start POI loader, it does not recognize my unit.

turn proximity

I ordered my 2009 Update DVD from GPS Central in Calgary and installed it. So far it now has a highway it would not show earlier.

My Nuvi 250 now gives no advance warning on turns. It used to say "Turn left in 300 meters", pause, pause, pause, "Turn left". After the update, it says "Turn left".

Search in Bobcat

I've have not used a more user unfriendly piece of software in a long time. There is basically no Help to find suggestions in. I want to search for an address and the search box simply won't take an address. I think I've set the 'Find' box right and also the 'near' box but it doesn't let me enter an address in the box after 'containing'.

Bobcat Map Question

Well, I'm a new user and I guess I must be having difficulty grasping the concept of unlocking maps, product keys, coupons, etc...

I just downloaded Bobcat and can't zoom into street level detail. Is there something I'm missing? Am I not allowed to do this? I can see my unlock code, but it says "map product not installed." What's up with that.

POI Organizer Updated!

Hello,

I have posted POI Organizer version 1.1.0

Fixes include:

Reimplemented import of CSV files, should now be more robust. Addded failure info to the alert when an import failes.
Added progress bars to import and export operations.
Optimized many operations - specifically import and export, they should be much faster.

Bobcat

Is there any way to bring a self created .csv file into Bobcat?

??? Two Mac-incompatible .gpx POI Factory library files ...any ideas?

I've read about some POI files appending .txt and .xml to the end of the .gpx or .csv extensions on a Mac. When it happened on .csv I just removed the .txt extension and it all worked fine. However, although 20 of the 24 I just installed are .csv, the remaining 4 are .gpx.
