CSV files showing up but not .gpx

I downloaded some POI files and put them in a single folder on my Mac. I used the Garmin POI Loader to load the files onto my Nuvi 765T. The files saved as .csv appear in the Custom POI menu on the Garmin, but the .gpx files don't. Are .gpx files stored somewhere else or have I done something wrong?

Is there a GPX editor/validator for the Mac?

I don't use MAC

I don't use a Mac, but someone else here has pointed out that when downloading gpx with one, it adds .xml to the filename, so it looks like 'poifile.gpx.xml'.

I think you just need to find the file and rename it by removing '.xml'

It's about the Line- If a line can be drawn between the powers granted and the rights retained, it would seem to be the same thing, whether the latter be secured by declaring that they shall not be abridged, or that the former shall not be extended.

I tried renaming the file

I removed the .xml extension, still no luck. The files open in a text editor and I can see the format. I'm not much of a coder but nothing looks out of the ordinary.

I've downloaded 4 largish files. I'll try another small file, or create a test file, and see if I can get it to work.

I figured it out

When I downloaded a gpx file it was automatically named file.gpx.xml and it appeared in the Finder with that name. I highlighted the file and removed the .xml extension. It then appears in the finder to look OK, showing as file.gpx. I then opened the file in TextWrangler to look at the code, and happened to notice it was still named file.gpx.xml!

I went to Finder preferences and checked > Show All Filename Extensions (I thought I already had that checked) and sure enough all the .xml extensions were still there.

I once again deleted the .xml extensions and now the files show up on my Garmin after using POI Loader.

With jobs disappearing in Redmond, maybe they're hiring in Cupertino? At least Windows doesn't rename the files, they just hide extensions.
