As long as you have all the

As long as you have all the .csv or .gpx poi files in the same directory (folder) on your Mac, along with any corresponding .bmp and .mp3 alerts you may want with the same name to go along as a set, then you just navigate to that folder where you keep them from within POI Loader. You will not see the files themselves when navigating from within POI loader, but that's okay. It will still see the files and load them as long as you point it to the correct folder where you know all your POI file sets to be.

I have had several Garmin nuvi's (currently 780 & 765T) and am also a long time Mac user.

Backup

How do I backup my Garmin 1450T to my Imac?

--
nuvi 1450T

backup...

Hi jgreg,

Mount the 1450T on your iMac, then create a new folder on your desktop and name it, let's say, Garmin Backup, then holding down the "option key" and drag 'n drop the mounted 1450T icon, into the newly created folder. That will copy all of the contents of your mounted 1450T.

H-D POI to Garmin 3790 on iMac

I made a folder on the desktop called POI. I click on the GPX icon on the H-D POI page. It downloads a file but tacks a .xml onto the end of the file name. I have tried simply deleting the .xml from the name and saving the file in my POI folder, along with the .bmp file of the H-D icon. When I run the Garmin POI loader it says there are no valid POI files in the selected folder. Any ideas?

Canada Maps Garmin Mac

hi,

The latest map I have For canada is Garmin

Is this the best one for British Columbia?

Welcome we can always use

Welcome we can always use more Mac users onboard. Put me down for the tts voice editor for mac.

gpx.xml mac solution

I just joined in. Mac user having my own problems with .bmp crashing poiloader.
Opened bmp in PS saved as OS bmp. Still no luck.

Now for your solution I hope. Try changing the .gpx to csv. I think I did that and it worked.

You can also edit your POIs .csv in Numbers. I took all the Rest Areas, separated out those with RV dumps and exported the new Dumps Only RA POI.

Welcome !

And is there any chance of finding a few Ubuntu (or other linux flavor) users in our midst ?

I had a dream - a community of GPS users, all of them collaborating, across the main OS flavors with sheer willingness...

PS: Miss POI, congrats on the new pic smile

Good to see a Mac User!

Welcome..

Good to see a Mac User.

I have been trying to make bitmap icons for a while. Weird stuff happens...icons work fine in GPS but; appear as tiny icons when viewing on my Mac.
I have tried PS,Acorn,Gimp,Paintbrush & Pixelmator. All with the same results.
Do you have any suggestions?

mac pro w/7200

I just got onto the mac bandwagon. I have a StreetPilot 7200, how can I download my custom poi's? I made them from scratch a few years ago, but I don't have the originals any more. I save a lot of points as favorites, but then it slows down the gps so I want to add them into one of my old poi files.

The answer is

Do a Google search for the following apps for the Mac, download them and you will be able to do whatever you want to do on your new Mac for your Garmin. The first 7 you can get at Garmin's web site. Between POI Organizer and Garmin POI Loader, you should be able to do what you're asking about.

Garmin BaseCamp
Garmin Map Update
Garmin MapInstall
Garmin MapManager
Garmin POI Loader
Garmin RoadTrip
Garmin WebUpdater
LoadMyTracks
POI Organizer

can we do this 1 step at a time?

1) From my Mac, how can I get to the POI files on my 7200?

Got it

Finely got it to work!!!!

Downloaded all mi poi's into Basecamp.

Now, what is the best way to convert it back into a .csv file?

Downloading voices and vehicles from Garmin

I was trying to download some new vehicles and voices from Garmin and the thing would not download to the Mac at all. When the Garmin was attached it would start but crash with the following error message:

"Can't find variable: urchinTracker"

Does anybody have any ideas about how to fix this? This is not crucial by any means, but is puzzling.

Thanks

Need Help

How do I get CSV POIs into Base Camp. I have tried using POI loader with no luck. Please help.

Thank you.

Help with Mac

Hi
I have a Garmin 2595 and I am also new to Mac. I have a macbook.

Can someone walk me through step by step on how to add a POI (like reststops) to my Garmin?

How do I also add a sound alert to the POI?

As I am really new to a Mac and I have no clue on how to get this done; any help would be great.

Thanks Cy

Brian, I too am a long-time Mac user, actually developer. I could always use icons, and I could trade some of my apps for icon design. If that interests you please let me know. My apps are at www.modesittsoftware.com

We Don't Need No Help

The reason for the low number of posts in the Mac community is because there are less problems with the Mac environment, and we Mac users are just smarter people.
