POI projects

I get a Poi Loader error message when I try to Wal-Mart_Canada.gpx from http://www.poi-factory.com/node/4307 (Wal-Mart & Wal-Mart Supercenters in Canada one file).

Just wanted to put out a Channel to get some idea on what is the best format and or layout that would work for over 50% of people. I know I wouldn't be able to make one file that would fit the needs of all. But I'll do my Best.

Please post comments, corrections, idea's or just a thought. I'm open to all. Since this is my first project. Though I jumped in to such a large project.

I have tried to get HD icons on my Zumo 550, with no luck, is there someone out there that has incountered this problem and has been able to overcome it...... Randy

I have the Rest Areas POI loaded on my Garmin 1490T. I get alerts for rest areas on both directions of the turnpike - which is fine, however, when I was in the car lanes with the truck lanes divided on the right side along the actual side of the road I no longer got alerts about the rest areas. Perhaps they were too far off then to the side?

I wonder if anyone is currently building a POI file of all the nuclear power plants in the US & Canada? I don't see one when I search the files here.

Seems like it might be a worthwhile POI to have loaded into your unit.

I would like to upload some POI files into Google Fusion Tables so the data can be queries and mapped.
Out of respect to the time and effort of those contributors that have assembled the files I am soliciting general feedback on whether or not this is OK with the community at large.

I was looking for a file to make and share with the group. I saw a thread from a few years ago where someone was asking if there was a Massage Envy POI. I am a Massage Envy member but didn't realize how many locations they had, I found 696 locations in 43 states.

I am trying to create my own custom icons without the white square background seen on most icons. The best way I can figure to do this is to set the background color of my icon to the same color as that of the major color of the map on my Garmin GPS, rendering the background "transparent." Does anyone know the exact color of the map background for a Garmin?

New to the forum. I downloaded the pure-gas.csv file, but when I went to transfer it to the gps, I received an error message. I opened the .csv file and found several rows with misplaced data. Once I corrected these, the file transferred to my Garmin Nuvi 255W and seems to work just fine.

I just launched a website called ontimezone.com which contains comprehensive data about time zones in North America. I intend to keep it accurate going forward. Feedback appreciated - especially corrections.

Message to JAM43, You have no contact info in your profile, so thought I would tell you this way, your ALDI's St. Louis POI file, the last entry, (Swansea, Ill), has the Lat. & Long. entries reversed. The way I caught it, was on the download page, it showed one entry outside the US. With our Global Economy, anything is possible, but I knew this could not be.

Please post the link to the POI File that needs to have commas removed in order to be loaded with the new POI Loader 2.60.

POI Files

I think it would be great if the POI files could be sorted by when they were last updated. I know on the main POI page you show recently added / updated files but if the files could be sorted by date we would have a way of checking the files that were updated some time ago but not noticed by some of us.

I have created and uploaded a new file called "North Carolina Barbecue - Guides and Trails."

This is my first attempt at creating a POI file, and feedback would be appreciated.
