Member CraigW wrote the following FAQ http://www.poi-factory.com/node/44415 warning us all that when using the Map Updater program it may either delete or rename incorrectly the DEM map file in the process.
Being a Map Updater fan & for having used it many times in the past, I will be calling Garmin support and advising them of this bug and do hope it'll be fixed for the 2016.10 release.
With my other Garmins, if I wanted to located all POIs near a location, I would enter a destination, then do a search near destination, BUT leave it blank when I did the search. That would find a number of POIs near my destination. I found that to be quite handy. On my Nuvi 3597, however, I have been unable to find a way to do that.
I picked up Nuvicam few days ago and ran into bluetooth issues with iPhone 6. I have heard it was a known issue with iPhone 6 or IOS 8.x.
I connected with my iPhone 6 for few minutes then Messages pops up on Nuvi screen "IOS service disconnected... your iPhone got disconnected."
It is not stable at all. I will appreciate any feed back on this issue.
Does anyone know if it is possible to alter the settings on the "up ahead" display, to something more useful, maybe one of my points of interest files.
Be great if you could.
Is there any way I can stop my Camper 760 doing a BOING every time the speed limit changes (up or down).
I've looked through all (I think) of the settings but I can't stop it.
Any help would be appreciated

I decided to try and create a route with basecamp and then load it to my Garmin. Everything went fine doing that. I decided to run a simulation of the route. Everything was fine except I noticed that JCV wasn't working with the basecamp route. Anyone else experience this? I think I had this problem last year when doing the same thing, so I just had to create a route within my Garmin.
Trying to find out the JCV file name for the Nuvi 50 Garmin City Navigator North America NT 2016.10 map.
Can someone explain how these files are named and if possible this jcv location at Garmin.
As CraigW has wisely suggested this thread is in regards to member Garmin2597Guy findings in regards to future map updates.
I decided to email him back and ask him why this one took so long. Here was his response:
Not a problem!
I have recently tried to get my old Garmin GPSmap76S up and running. It was the first gps unit that I ever bought and used it mainly for fishing with the occasional road trip. I need to add some different area topo maps; the unit has a very small memory so you cannot load the whole of Canada on it.
I'm interested to the following Garmin model: Garmin 2689LMT Europe. It has many countries included.
I would like to know if this model will support the specials caracters from any countries supported by it(as an example Croatia) and these caracters will be available to inquire places to visit ?
Thanks and have a good day.
This concerns that route I was talking about in the Custom avoidances thread I started. The trip from Pittsburgh to Williamsburg. Starting a different thread because I have a separate issue to ask about now.
My Nuvi 755 purchased in 2008 has developed a gooey, sticky back rubber surface. It's developing quite a collection of hair and miscellaneous debris. Is this the rubber coating de-vulcanizing?
I tried washing it off a year or so ago and it did no good. I don't want to damage it and it's not a big deal, but it would be nice to get rid of the stickiness if there's a good way to do it.
I am using Garmin 52LM. I installed CN NA NT 2015.30 on the SD card under the \Garmin\ directory and it works fine. I then downloaded the large JCV file that corresponds to 2015.30 from here http://download.garmin.com/support/2015_30/NA/JV/D3060160A.J...
OK, I want to take a trip from Pittsburgh, PA to Williamsburg, VA in about a month for vacation. I went into custom avoidances and did my best to completely block I-95. I want absolutely nothing to do with I-95 on this trip. Any other highway is fine. Anyway, after I tried to block I-95 in the custom avoidances, I punched in the route. Guess what? It included I-95 in the trip.
Checked in on GE the other day and it listed a new software update available. I downloaded and installed to my 2598 and everything seems to work okay so at least nothing broke.
Recently during our travels from Arizona to Montana we have gone over several routes where there are elevation signs. The posted elevation and the Garmin Nuvi display are usually off by 30' to 50'. Is this normal? I know that the GPS lags as it moves but I am talking about the max displayed on the GPS vs. the posted elevation on the road sign.
when connected with usb can garmin express be turned off and the unit be used with usb power to add dat ie destenations?
The 680 broke in 3 yrs, but this 2350 is past 4....only one annoyance is the odd maps that lack 20 y.o. roads (nuvi says to navigate off road), and that it routes one way to a location, a different way back sometimes. But overall it still works....
