Garmin talk

When downloaded in the unit, are the POIs supposed to show up in the map as you get near them, such as Cracker Barrels, fuel, attractions, etc??? I am pretty sure the Tom Toms have this feature...

Does anyone know how I can take apart either the FM receiver end (the end that plugs into power) or the end that connects to the Nuvi cradle without destroying it?

I have a GPS Map 76CX. I've uploaded the most recent drivers for it as of a month or two ago. As of last night when I went to download some tracks of my most recent outing, Windows claimed it was a new gadget, and had to look for - and not find the necessary USB drivers.

I think I just succesfully updated my StreetPilot I3 ro V2008 maps. Is there any way to verify? "Settings" just gives me software version 3.40 which I think is what it said before I updated. Any experts have advice on how to verify update?? Thanks for any help.

Just when I was depending on my MSN traffic feed to help me get to the Airport to catch a flight, I git the dreaded Subscription not active" screen but I had all three signal bars. I called MSN and they said they would reset it but over the next 45 minutes on the way to the airport it didn't reset. When I got back in town it didn't reset.

I've had my Nuvi 660 for about 2 weeks now. I've really enjoyed using it (my first GPS) and up until now it has seemed to work perfectly.

Now that Garmin has shown it can add routing to the nuvi line, I think we should petition them to add this feature to all of the nuvis. This should not be a hardware issue, and the nuvis already talk to MapSource. A simple software update or patch should be all that is necessary to add this feature, which should have been included in all of the nuvis from the start, to all existing units.

I have a Nuvi 350 I use for work. I have to visit 20 fixed routes of 12-20 waypoints (stops) each time. Is there any way to upload these routes from my computer? I have them all in Microsoft Mappoint. If I can't upload the routes can I convert from Mappoint to a format for Garmin?

Whenever I try to transfer the maps to my unit I get an error message while sending map set "There was an error communicating with your device. Please make sure your device is plugged in and turned on. If error continue to occur, you may need to restart your device."

I have a Garmin 2720 that I have loaded Red light cameras into the Custom POI's only, will I get an audio/visual alert or do I need to make them a Waypoint to get the alert?

I live in ireland and until recently used a street pilot 320 and mapsource Europe V9 and City select N. America maps. When I travelled I saved a map set e.g. California on SD card and used it in the street pilot. Never had any problems.

I am new to GPS... first one today and I have a NUVI 660. WHich type of file do I use... I have seen both CSV and GPX files. WHich ones do I need to use?

i just bought a nuvi 650... I did not buy an AC adpater to charge the battery (yet). I have it plugged into my PC via USB. DOes this recharge the battery?
