Critical MSN Update

Just when I was depending on my MSN traffic feed to help me get to the Airport to catch a flight, I git the dreaded Subscription not active" screen but I had all three signal bars. I called MSN and they said they would reset it but over the next 45 minutes on the way to the airport it didn't reset. When I got back in town it didn't reset. So Called again and I got an very rude MSN rep who was ordering me around like I just arrived to boot camp. She said she would reset it but also told me that last Friday afternoon, a new critical update was released and that I must down load it from the Garmin website. If you have MSN you should download this. Also Did anyone else loose their MSN subscription last Friday Sept 1st!

Did the Update

I did not lose the subscription, however, I did do the update from Garmin via the Webupdater, so I don't know if that had anything to do with the update.

I don't remember it being a 'critical' update, though...

Here's the changelog for the MSN receiver from 2.2 to 2.3...

new update for MSN direct receiver

Changes from version 2.20 to version 2.30:
Improve reception while driving through areas of intermittent signal.
Acquire data faster when driving into a new coverage area

I did see a huge difference

After I did the update, I now get content a lot faster. My closest theater was almost never listed and if it was it only has a few movies listed. Now it there with all of them. I also have the station names with gas prices. Time will tell on traffic but it is there too so far. So it appears MSN made a step in the right direction in improving the existing functions.

msn update

I got the c580 for a steal from Costco since no other unit that had all the traffic stuff was anywhere near that price. I drive around 70 miles roundtrip in the Chicago area every day and anything that can help me with traffic would be great.

I've gotten the unit to actually get signal a couple times (usually right after turning on) but the signal dies after a couple minutes. It did once state that there was an update from Garmin, and i used the webupdate and it didn't find any updates. Is there some way to download the file directly?

MSN & Garmin Updates

My Nuvi continued to work just fine after 9-1-07. Updated the software for the Nuvi which included an update for MSN Receiver about September 12th but never lost service between the first and the 12th. MSN feature worked fine immediately after the update.
