Garmin talk

Hi Folks!

Just got my Nuvi 360 on Friday, and have been playing with it all weekend. Already have some custom POI's loaded (BIG thanks to those posting them!).

Trolling for opinions on Garmin Streetpilot C550. Appreciate any pros and cons on this gps. I really want the Nuvi 660 but's pretty expensive.

RE: Nuvi 660 - Touch screen accuracy, if you are having issues with the Touch Screen, try putting the screen face towards your Air Conditioner vent for about 15 seconds with the cool air blowing on it. See if that corrects the problem. This ghosting will usually occur in the summer and when the unit has been in a hot car for a while. Stronger sun, higher heat, quicker effect.

I had to send my Nuvi back to Garmin b/c of a bad power button. I had no idea how dependent on it I had become until I almost got lost taking my daughter to her preschool this morning. Seems that I do not pay much attention to the route I am taking anywhere I just let Jack lead me along, lol.

Hi, I activated my free 1 year MSN service in my new C580. It’s been 4 hours, and by 580 still says “not activated”. How long does it take?

Also, on the MSN signal strength, I get one bar (out of three). Could this be the problem? If so, is there a way of adding an external antenna?

I did install the latest MSN update yesterday.

Hi All. This is my first time posting. Been lurking for a bit.

Anyone experience the Nuvi 660 freezing while playing MP3's? It has happened most recently when an alert went off and the MP3 was playing through the FM transmitter.

I have updated 2008 maps and the updated operating system if that has any bearing on it.

Nuvi 350

I see that Nuvi 350 gives alerts when it is 0.2 miles away from turn, on highway, it tell you about around 1 miles. Is there any way, I can change ? Sometimes 0.2 miles can't give you enough time to change lane .

I'm using a PC with WinXP Home SP2. Since updating my 2720 with the new City Navigator North America NT 2008 Update, I now show the following 2 entries in the "Add/Remove" section of Control Panel. This is in addition to Mapsource, Webupdater, etc.

I thought the Nuvis are supposed to adjust their time based on which time zone I am in. I thought they can figure that out from the current GPS location. Is that not true? My Nuvi kept east coast time all the while I was driving around in mountain time zone.

I have a Garmin Zumo 550 and I am having issues with my XM traffic. I live in the Baltimore area and I am not getting any traffic updates for there. I am getting the hey have reset updates for areas around Baltimore such as DC, York, PA, and Philly. I have called XM and they have sent me a refresh signal and then it works until I turn the unit off.

I have Garmin Nuvi 350. Is there any where I can set speed alert ? Do I need Custom POI data to do this or this could be done by enabling some feature.

I realize there have been a lot of threads on TMC traffic, but was wondering if traffic data in other metro areas was more accurate with regards to traffic density and/or accident notifications.

I'm in the Los Angeles area, and overall I'm pleased to find that the locations of traffic is pretty accurate.

Is there an patch or software upgrade so its not so easy to bypass the lock if its stolen. Only takes seconds on the Nuvi 660

I don't even know if this is possible, but I've got a trip to Germany next week and I was thinking about taking my Nuvi 660. A friend of mine just got a Nuvi 370 with European maps and I was wondering if it was possible to extract that map data out of the 370 and into the 660? Any ideas?

I recently experienced an odd problem with my Nuvi 680 where the Nuvi does not connect with the MSN receiver - I get a message "Connecting to the MSN reciever", but the Nuvi never does connect. I've tried resetting both the Nuvi and the MSN receiver, and tried a new MSN receiver/power cord. I've also uploaded the latest software from Garmin.

Came back from a road trip in CO over the long weekend. I loaded up the various POI files from here before the trip. Since time was kind of tight did not really get a chance to make use of the POIs contained in these files. I was hoping some of these would pop up in my display as I drive. None did
