Lets get Routing on all nuvis

Now that Garmin has shown it can add routing to the nuvi line, I think we should petition them to add this feature to all of the nuvis. This should not be a hardware issue, and the nuvis already talk to MapSource. A simple software update or patch should be all that is necessary to add this feature, which should have been included in all of the nuvis from the start, to all existing units.

I agree if it can be done by a S/W upgrade or patch. I just purchased my 370 and have until Sept 19 to return it to get my money back. If technically it can be done I would pay a reasonable price for the update. Never dealt with Garmin so hopefully they are loyal to their customers.

Garmin Support

I am very happy with Garmin support. I am confident that if a software patch or update is feasible, Garmin will implement it. The code created for the nuvi 7xx should be easily ported to the other nuvis.

Heck... I'd even pay for the

Heck... I'd even pay for the the software upgrade. How do we start the petition?

Routing

I'm down with that...where do I sign!?!
Heck, I'll circulate the petition!

Should have waited

if I knew this routing capability was on the pipeline, I would have waited for this and would not have bought my 370. Too bad. More and more I wish my unit had this feature.

eMails

We can all barrage Garmin with eMails. If anyone composes a particularly good one, post it here so we can all plagiarize.

How about starting a thread with an on line petition?

We could do this and also email or write letters to Garmin. As far as I'm concerned, releasing a new unit with such advantages devalued my unit tremendously. I was disappointed with the Nuvi already Because I felt like it was not fully developed compares to features already found on existing units. This just added salt to the wound.

Boilerplate email

It would certainly set them apart from TomTom. I'd love to compose the boilerplate email, but am too busy with work right now. Anyone wanna take a first pass?

I'm sorry but....

I had to comment, there seems to be a couple of threads on this same subject...and while catching up on my unreads....well I just had to comment here. I'm not picking on anyone, just an observation.

It's been mentioned in this thread and at least one other thread that one would "pay" for a software upgrade that would add some (or all) of the features of the new 7xx line...

It seems a bit funny to me, knowing all of the griping that was (is) being done about having to "buy" an updated map.

People don't want to buy an updated map, but would buy a software upgrade to do more things with an outdated map. Or they'll buy a software upgrade, then next year, yell they deserve an updated map...I don't get it.

I feel for all of the recent 6xx purchasers, I really do. The timing does seem a bit odd. Perhaps there's more problems with the 6xx series than we've discovered, who knows.
Hopefully, Garmin's decision with the 7xx line will include a more stable operating platform, and perhaps minor things have been fixed such as touch screen and speaker problems. The internal antenna will solve some problems too. There may be somethings that a "simple" software upgrade couldn't fix or would be too conflicting. Sometimes it's best to just start with a clean slate and rebuild.

It just strikes me funny. Again, just an observation and I hope nobody takes it any other way.
