Street Pilot c530 Stopped Working

Anybody had any problems with their Garmin c530 where it just stopped working? I've had mine for about 15 months and probably use it every weekend.....this weekend I couldn't get it to turn on either on it's own power or while plugged into the car. I also tried hooking it up to the computer and the computer doesn't even recognize that a device is connected.

I pulled the face cover off and pushed the reset button, but that didn't work at all.

Anyone had any similar problems with this model or with Garmin in general? I'm a bit frustrated as I've only had it 15 months.....never been dropped or left in hot cars--took care of it as much as possible.

Any similar problems out there?

Thanks in advance!

Something to try...

My (virtually identical) C510 has done this. The cure was to undo the 4 screws holding it together and then momentarily disconnect the battery.

Be careful not to dislodge any of the ribbon cables when removing the front part. Some patience is required when re-assembling...the aerial/antenna bit needs a bit of waggling, to get it to go back in its slot.

Could it be a matter of just an extremely low battery charge?

I wonder if you plug it to the computer's usb (not the car charger or ac charger) and let it sit for 8 hrs, if that will work.

Customer Service

Garmin has great Customer Service. I would give them a call. Call early in the day right when they open and you should get through almost immediately.

Plug it into the USB port of PC

I agree with asianfire. The same thing happened to me about a year ago (battery was drained) and the only way to get it to work was to charge it through the usb of my pc.
