Garmin talk

Needing more space for my POIs, I bought a 2gig SD card for my c530. Using POI Loader, I downloaded several POIs through the USB cable to the card in the c530. Everything went OK with a "successfully loaded" message at the end. I see the new files on the SD from explorer. But, when I access "Extras" in the Garmin, it only sees the old POIs that are installed internally.

On my Garmin 360, I've installed a number of custom POIs (Thank you POI Factory!). It is a little annoying that the POIs are not in alphabetical order. Is there an order to how the POIs are listed on my Garmin?

I only have 3 pages of custom POIs, so it's not too bad, but it is annoying.

ok, last week i loaded my custom poi's to my unit no issues, today i went to upload another fet of files the loader went throught the steps, said they are on the unit, but when i go to extras i dont see them, what did a do wrong?

made a trip to Texas, it was great to have the rest area poi set, since we have a 2 yearold and are potty training!... we cannot wait to bring little emma home from China late next year....

When I save a location on my nuvi, the data must be stored somewhere in the nuvi's internal memory and I'd think it will be somewhere in the Garmin subdirectory. I'd like to make sure that I have these backed up to my PC.

When I save the first location to my nuvi, is a new file created? Or is there an existing nuvi file that's modified with the additional info?

I gather that it is important to properly disconnect a nuvi from its PC connection after a POI loading, firmware update, etc.

What I do is go to my PC's "My Computer", right click my "nuvi drive", then click Eject. This makes the nuvi drive disappear in My Computer and turns off the nuvi. Then I unplug the USB cable. This is what I should be doing, right?

I would like to know why and how to load POI files on my 260. When using my gps, what will I have to do to see them on the screen? Do you keep the card in all the time? Do they show up by themself? Boy, do I feel dumb. A nice owners book would have helped! I did figure how to delete and put my own pictures on it.

Ok...I am a newbie with our first gps..garmin750. We are fulltime rv'ers. I have downloaded some of the campgrounds in the campground forums but I would like to know if there is a way I can just find all of them on our gps without putting in a specific location? Please excuse me if this is not the correct forum to post this question.

What is kinda cool is to turn off your Garmin and simulate routes to places. If tou pay attention to it you can find Mcdonalds,Kfc locations etc.

I did a search and couldn't find any answers relating to this. I did find the black squares are supposed to be default POI's.

IS it true that nuvi 7 lineup has the limit speed showing for freeways? Anyway, previous model can have this? or any speed limits showing for local too?(which I think is more useful). Thanks,

Just to pass on this info:

After about 6 months, my C530 on the beanbag mount started sliding around (and off of) the dash on turns. The bottom didn't feel tacky anymore, and I suspected it had become coated with a layer of fine dust.

Garmin support suggested cleaning it with a mild hand soap.

I am trying help a friend of mine get a 2610 setup for use on his 2007 HD FLHTCI. Got almost everything he needs but am unsure of the patch cable that will run between the audio plug-in on the motorcycle power cable to the radio on the bike. His bike has the newer radio that HD is using made by Harmon-Kardon.

Can someone point me to the patch cable??

instead of SD card. How do you remove them without messing something up! I guess I'm too quick on the trigger because I have loaded some POIs that I cannot remove using the POI Loader. Can someone please help me?

Being new to GPS I have been playing with my new nuvi 260. The problem that I am having is it is telling me to turn left and then it recalculates back to the orignal street. The street that this has happened on is a straight run to my house. It made this error twice in different locations on the same trip. Today, I went on a 12 mile trip to a known store.

I use a shortcut to go to work (i go through a parking lot). is there anyway to change the map so it shows that road? i've used tomtom and tomtom showed the road and guided me through it. Shouldn't the maps be of the same acuracy? they use the same agencies, right?
