Garmin talk

I have a nuvi 650, I was never able to download POI or red lightalert/camera alert.Is it possible to download without subscription.I'm not very good in computers, so please ,can somebody give me step by step instructions?

I have a garmin nuvi 650, and would like to contribute to the open street maps project. www.openstreetmap.org . My question is this: Has anyone sent track points to the project? And how do I set my 650 to collect track points?

Wanted to find this Wal-Mart Super Center,and when I entered the street,it only comes up with 1 suggestion,and that is just,George.
The street I need is George Clauss Blvd.
How do I find what I need.
You try it,I let me know if you come up with it.

Several POI files that I am interested in have the coordinates entered unsorted by value. Does anyone know how to sort .the entries in the file by the longitude value while retaining all the original values in the file. I would like to edit our those areas of the country that I will not be using in my travels.

I recently pull the trigger on a 260. I got it from Amazon through the free nuvi 200 promotion. Currently I have a C530 with many favorites based on business clients. I have checked the forum and didn’t see or missed if this has been asked before; is there a way to transfer my favorites directly from the 530 to 260 via my computer?

Does anyone know how to work the advanced video settings on the GVN 53? I need to shrink the screen so it all fits on my 2008 Toyota Prius display.

On Garmin 750 I have downloaded several POI's with ICONS and mp3 sounds. The Icons work but sounds (Alerts) do not play.

I still can not find new Garmin models except for one Nuvi 265TW but other models e.g 755, 765T and 775T etc. are not available in any store. Has anybody any luck finding them in Canadian stores?

If I change the vehicle type in either of my Garmins, the unit takes a different route. Why? What is the difference between Car, Truck, Delivery Van, etc.? The Manual doesn't say.

I've transferred a track from my nuvi750 to MapSource and now i would like to save it as a route that i could transfer to my wife's nuvi750 is this possible and if so how do i go about it.

Now that the cold weather is here i was wondering if I left my Nuvi in the car overnight in below 32 degree temperatures could it damage the unit. I know it could kill the battery but could it damage the screen as well?

Everything went well with the 2009 map update, but I seem to have lost EVERY SINGLE point of interest!

I loaded some speed camera alerts onto my Nuvi 350 and the speed cameras are approx 1 mile apart. I only get the first alert and the following alerts do not trigger after the first alert goes away.

Has anyone had this problem? What can be done to fix it?

Sorry if this has been discussed, but I couldn't find it in the forums anywhere. I was wondering if anybody had any problems with the Nuvi software version 5.00 update?

I've had several routes that were created by Mapquest and tried to send via the send option rejected. That is sometimes with multiple waypoints Mapquest says it can't communicate with my device. I called Garmin and they said they don't advise to use Mapquest. They had me make sure that my computer is seeing the device which it does.

anyone still having a very slow start up on Nuvi 760? i have 4.2, if not, what did you do to rectify, i heard hard restart, i forgot, cant find how to do that. thanks

Recently I have noticed that the Garmin Mount between the back of the unit (680) and the ballhead from the Garmin Bean Bag mount has become loose and the unit keeps pointing down. Anyone else have this same issue. I was thinking of putting same tape on the ballhead or something else to tighten up the space, any suggestions?

I am on the road today. I will be going to to Lawton VA. to pick up the Auto Train to Florida. I am in Woodbridge NJ for the night. I have driven this route for the last 4 years and I used AAA Maps. The maps still to this day avoid the GW Bridge. So, I wanted to avoid the GW bridge in NY and use the Tapinzee Bridge.

My Garmin came without a folder called mp3. I know you have to make a folder with this name and put your .mp3's inside.

Will the Garmin read .mp3 files inside subfolders? In other words can I make a folder for each album inside the mp3 folder and access them from the Garmin, or do I just have to make playlists?

Hey everybody.

I have a bunch of audio books in .mp3 format. Does anyone know of any way to convert them to .aa so they're bookmarkable? Or is there a way to convert them and play them as bookmarkable .mp3 files on the Garmin?
