garmin 270 was not starting with sd card in it

y'day I was trying to start garmin 270 to get direction. But it will come upto loading map screen and quit. It happend 3 times. Then I charged it but same thing. I pluged in to auto charger. then it was stuck on loading map screen.
I then decided to remove the SD card and start it. Bingo battery was fully charged it was the sd card that was causing it. I later put SD card back and it was fine,
Did any one have similar experience? and do you know what could be the reason?

Maybe Dirty Contacts

I have not experienced your problem, but it sounds like it just may have been dirty contacts. The act of removing then re-inserting the card may have been enough to clean the contacts so that each pin was now making good contact.

I would just keep an eye on it to see if it happens again.

I recently had a weird

I recently had a weird startup with my 350
I fired it up to enjoy my radio show on the train while on the train to work one day last week.
The audio was skipping. Stopped it..started..skipped again..
I just popped out the 2GB SD card..slammed it back and all was well. Didnt even power cycle the unit.
After a year of ownership..and listening to it every day on the train..this was only the second time it got goofy...

No biggy....

exactly the same

I tried to start the 270 with the sd card in and had exactly the same results. Neither the Nuvi nor the card would show up on the desktop. I tried a different cable, formatted a new card and even swapped the sd card from my 350 to the 270, but no go. I even tried reading the manual which is most unusual for me. I finally called Garmin support. The solution is, start the 270 without the card in. After the nuvi appears on the desktop, then insert the card and wait for it to show up too. Then everything works fine; the poi loader, the updater et al. It's a little bit of a pain in the butt, but that's the best that support could come up with. At least it does work that way.

I've noticed the same problem

If the sd card is removed from my nuvi 270 my computer (Windows XP pro op system) will find it, with the sd card inserted it will not. I also discovered that after the nuvi is discovered the same thing about inserting the card after discovery.... I have tried various usb inputs and found the same problem (front, back and pci card) My 670 doesn't have the problem with the same sd card.....
