Garmin talk

I am a new user and someone told me you can search by zipcode rather than the town. My first trip with my Nuvi 350 was between two towns and I didn't know which one to enter. I had the road address but not the town. Does anyone know if this can be done? I can't seem to find any info on it.

I just download the redlight and speed camera CSV files. I know how the redlight alert works because of the reserved word redlight, so I was wondering if the speed camera file works the same, is speed a reserved word or do I have to use a different reserved word like tourguide/specs or set a distance manually.

I was messing around today with my nuvu 750 and decided to type in "chiropractic" as the destination I wanted to go to (under POI's, type address...)

One business came up, which made me question how one would get their business into the "core map" POIs?

I have attempted to answer this question myself for a long time and have been unsuccessful so now I'm going to ask about it.

Is there a way to get my Garmin 850 to ignore the POIs I have passed and only show the ones that are ahead of me. It is very frustrating to have to scroll thru' dozens of POIs that are in the rear view mirror when traveling on the interstates. I am only interested in those that I will come to not those I have left behind.

Hi All, I have owned a C320 for a few months, and getting to learn more about it.

It's great for navigation, but I want to load some POI files on it to make it even more useful.

I was extremely disappointed to find out that when I tried to load the zip code file the POI loader told me the C320 has not enough memory.

I did a search and it seems I can't load the POI files to the SD card?

When I have my alerts turned on it repeats it self several times. When I have it set to 5000 feet it will alert at 5000 feet and usually 2 more times before I pass the point. Does anyone know if I can make it only alert once.

i have a nuvi 770 and while i was looking through the some audio software (turbocc)to change played messages like "Recalculating..etc" on my "TTS - Daniel"; I found some other messages like 64-Welcome to garmin or 72- Gps is oph which if i'm not mistaken they should play when you turn on/off the device.
my unit doesn't play these messages... any ideas ??

Does anyone know if the units that WalMart sold on black friday contain state only maps? A friend of the family is claiming that his gps only works in Kansas, not Nebraska or Oklahoma.

He is not technically minded and I have not been able to figure out which unit he has exactly yet (thinking nuvi 200).

I have not seen this else where and was just curious what others had experienced.

Can someone point me in the right direction (No pun intended) with WebUpdater.
When I run it I get a list. Most are voices but there are 3 on top that I have a about.

I got my daughter a 250 for Christmas. Though it gives turn-by-turn directions with voice, it does not name the street to turn on. For example: instead of saying "Turn right on Main Street", it simply says "Turn right". I looked through all of the settings, but couldn't find anything that would change this. I haven't seen that on any of the other models I have handled.

In creating CSV file, does it necessary always the longitude is negative (-) or just in the USA. In my location in the Philippines the longitude is positive.

i loaded the state parks onto my nuvi, when finished and i checked them all it said was campground, no name of the campground or any info at all is this correct?

Im trying to change my pic but cant, I did it before but forgot how?

Is there any way of Programmatically creating garmin routes from poi files or is there an external program that would do this?

I just purchased a recertified 350 and it is supposed to have the latest maps. How do I locate the map version on the 350?

Anyone have any input about this new (I think) feature and if and how well or better it works.

I have a Motorola Q with bluetooth that is on thge supported device list for the Garmin Nuvi 370. I can make/recieve phone calls through the GPS dial function but the GPS will not upload the contacts from my phone and I continue to get an error when I send a contact to the GPS by bluetooth. Any suggestions for getting contacts into the GPS?

Hi everybody.

I uploaded some POI's and their associated icons, even up loaded them with the uploader, and I still only get a blue flag for all my POI's instead of the custom icon. What gives?

Is it common for a gps to recalculate after stopping for a short period? when I start to move it jumps all over recalculating and has at times caused me to turn at the wrong road. any explanations?
