You need to install them with the POI Loader program. After that you will find them under Extras

Garmin StreetPilot c530, Mapsource

When you press on "Custom-POIs", what file name(s) do you see -- "My Favorite Loaded Address"?

Did you choose to load the POIs onto either the unit or a card -- not a folder on your computer? At the conclusion of running POI Loader, did the program report that it had successfully loaded xxx points of interest?

Nuvi 660 -- and not upgrading it or maps until Garmin fixes long-standing bugs/problems, and get maps to where they are much more current, AND corrected on a more timely basis when advised of mistakes.

Load a second POI file to the directory

Try loading a second POI file in the same directory as your rest area POI. You may need to have two or more POI files to have them appear with their coresponding name.

Make sure..............

Are you making sure that the POI loader is uploading from the correct file folder from your PC?

You're in the Garmin section so apparently you have a Garmin, but it would be helpful to post the model number, such as Nuvi 200W.

Did you have all of the POI files in the same directory (AKA folder) on your computer, with no sub-directories? Is that the Directory that you pointed POI loader to?

Do you have a directory on your computer called "My Favorites"? Windows by default does not, although it does have some directories called "Favorites".

If you're not using POI loader in manual mode, do so. That will at least let you step through the POI files that you are about to download and see that POI loader is starting in the right place and pointing at the right files.

When giving information for people to assist you, particularly when something is clearly going wrong and it would be good to have as much information as can be had, it would be helpful to not say things like "u have transferred this many poi into ur device,", but rather to give actual data. For example, in this case, if the number was correct for the POI files you reported we would have a pretty good idea that you are indeed transferring the correct files, if it is drastically off then we might be able to guess that the POI loader is pointing to the wrong place. As it is we have to assume that everything is correct here, but if everything were correct everywhere then you should see the new POIs.

i have nuvi 680, i tried

i have nuvi 680, i tried manually loading also, it said i transferred 39 points of interest, i called garmin with this problem, tech support rep guided me thru downloading again, she couldn,t figure out what''s wrong,so i emailed those files to her and waiting for that reply, may be today she'll get back to me.

problem resolved

Igot back from garmin. my files were ina compressed form, she corrected it and sent it back to me. I was able to download all files succesfully. Sorry for all the trouble and Thank you guys.

Did they tell you why they

Did they tell you why they were compressed and how to uncompress them because if you want to add more POI later you may run into the issue again and you don' twant to send files to Garmin to have them fix the compressed files again.

If they told you how to fix this issue please post, so other uses, with same issue can fix problem without dealing with tech support @ Garmin.

thanks.
