Hide mp3's from a Zumo 550?

Is there a way to hide mp3's on my SD card so the Zumo 550 won't see them? I have a 16gb card and right now I have 994 mp3's on it. I have several thousand mp3's. I want to move them off my HD and on to the SD card. If I load all 2,346 mp3's on the card, the Zumo 550 only sees the top 1,000. So all my songs that are on the bottom 1,346 isn't being read or played.

You should be able to make genre,Artist,Album or category folders and load a 1000 into each.

The Zumo's current firmware will only read the first 1000 songs in the FAT table. There's currently no way around this other than to combine some of the songs together.

The Zumo reads the track tags from the songs and doesn't read the folder structure.

Just because things don't go according to plan doesn't mean they arent going perfectly. - .. .. ɐɯɐɯ ǝlɔʎɔɹoʇoɯ .. ..

If you just want to put the mp3 files on your SD card but not be able to play them, you can just delete the extension (.mp3) from the files. Then the zumo won't recognize the files as mp3's. Of course at the time you want the songs to be seen you will have to go back and add the extension.

Thanks

OK, I thought that deleting the extension was the only way. crying I wish Garmin would get off their duff and fix the firmware.

.

The other way around it is to put them on separate SD cards.
