Garmin talk

This was my first 'time zone' trip and I was a little surprised at my Nuvi 200. I went from Georgia to TN and expected the Nuvi to change the time back an hour, but it did not. Is this normal? Cell phones change, so why didn't the gps?

I have been using my Garmin Nuvi 260 for about a year now. I have never had a bad thing to say up until lately

Is a speed camera always on and only snaps a photo of the approaching car's front or back license plate when the driver exceeds 5% of the speed limit? How are away does the camera take a photo?

The same with the redlight camera (always on)?

Well It had to happen sometime. We finally broke down and bought a nuvi 5000 on a Black Friday sale. It ws originally 625.00 and it was 400.00 I beleive. My question is Is the FM traffic receiver worth its due

I bought Nuvi 760 from Costco Canada today but when I tried to enable Traffic updates, I got the message to enter FM Traffic reciver id on www.garmin.com/fmtraffic to get code to enable it.

But when I go to Garmin web site, it is asking me to purchase lifetime subscription.

How do I activate free 3 months subscription?
I will appreciate your advice.

I have only had my Garmin nuvi for a few days, but it seems that when it is on vehicle power, it never powers down. I had a Magellan that could sense inactivity (that it was not moving) and would power down after 20 minutes. Is there a way to configure the Garmin in a similar manner?

Radio Shack had a great price on the 250W on Black Friday and I picked one up. Have had SP III and 2610 in the past. First impression, nice graphics, nice to have 2009 map and POI download capability. Functionality is nowhere near as good as 2610 but it only cost me 1/4 of what I paid for the 2610. Only had it one day, we'll see how it goes.

Will I get Audible alerts from Custom POI's even though my GPS does not have a MP3 player?

I purchased a nuvi 265 wt Friday and want to clean out the files I don't need.Done backup in case of any problems.Deleted the voices and vehicles that were not needed.I see one folder for text.I see everything in there except English.Any reason this file can not be deleted?

How do you load custom POIs into Mapsource?

Without the GPS attached, tried two things but was unsuccessful. (1) Used POI Loader to generate a file (apparently with gdi extension) for Mapsource but the POIs don't seem to be loaded. (2) Again used POI Loader but selected a gdi file as the output. However, Mapsource couldn't load this gdi file. It seems to want a gdb file.

I wonder where I am going wrong here. I use the Garmin Nuvi660.
I have two files i.e. TourGuide Church.gpx & TourGuide Church.jpg in a folder named Places.
I have loaded them via POILoader.

In simulation, when I arrive at the waypoint destination to which I have attached the
.jpg file nothing happens apart from saying that I have arrived. No photo???

I've loaded a number of custom POI's and have noticed there seems to be a limit of 52 poi's. This occured with the loading of Diners, Driveins, and Dives. Also with McDonalds restaurants. After opening up the.csv files there were many more than the 52 locations. I loaded them with POI Loader. They were loaded to the device and not a SD card.

I really like how Garmin GPS devices work. I know that they have had GPS PDAs in the past, but they did not have wifi. I know that Asus and Pharos make GPS PDAs with wifi. I am just wondering if we will ever see a Garmin device of any sort with built in wifi. If I wanted one now, I think that the closest I could come is to buy a used Garmin PDA and add wifi.

I just picked up the Garmin 200 Nüvi for $97 at Walmart on Black Friday (today). So far I love it! Only thing is, it didn't come preloaded with speed alerts, that kind of stinks. I tend to have a led. At first I didn't like the the whole vehicle thing. But once I seen that I can change it to the 3D Arrow. I was ok with it.

I just upgraded to the nuvi 750 this morning, so I have some questions.

The main reason I wanted to upgrade was to have the ability to tour!

This new unit has the MP3 player and text to speech.

So here is my questions.

does anyone know how many pics the 255w will hold or how much memory it has for pics,i know it depends on the size of the pics too.and can you make the pics full screen while in the slide show with out stopping and manually doing it

Our province Manitoba will soon forbid hands-on cell phone use while driving. How would a blue-tooth enabled Garmin 260WT GPS unit work with my LG cell phone? I bought a 255W unit, but I may have to return it and buy the 260WT instead...

guess im in teh market for a new GPS (and a new side window). are the nuvi 760s portable ? i.e. can i drop it into a pocket and not leave it in the car ? my 60csx was not (and hence got stolen from its hardwired mount). also will the 760 take a 16gb sdhc (im looking at adata or patriot which go for 40 bux) and allow me to fill it with euro maps, bluechart and mp3s ??

I find when doing a search for the above gmapprom1.img file references to it but not what it is. I suppose that gmapprom.img is 2009 North America map on my 770 but am not positive. I was thinking of deleting the europe map set (After saving a copy) as I don't use it and could use the space for other maps... Mexico etc...
