You can have subfolders for
You can have subfolders for custom POI's so it should work for music as well. I have not set up subfolders for music so try a subfolder and see, it just takes a minute
I tripped going up the escalator and I fell for an hour and a half!

Yes, in fact having your songs in several folders rather than in a single folder will speed up the GPS unit's reading of the files.
However, just be aware that the unit will NOT read the file structure. It reads the track tags for organizing the songs. It's important to have the songs properly tagged if you want them to show up in the MP3 player under the various categories.
I have them....
I have diffrent folders on my Garmin. It shows me the album, artist, genre as the basic. My personal folders are 80's, 80's freestyle, dance, ect.
You should have no problem loading them to your simm card.

.
You can use a number of software programs to do it.
I use Media Monkey. It will tag them automatically from data on the internet. And depending upon the source of the songs, they might already be tagged.
You also can manually edit the tag information by right clicking on the song and selecting Properties and clicking on details.
It is the information in the track tags (Title, Album, Artist, Genre) that will show up in the MP3 player on the GPS unit.
The filename and the folder aren't read by the unit for those pieces of information.

MP3 Tagging
I also use Media Monkey - for ripping, but for tagging I find a freeware/shareware program called "mp3tag" to be very good. Use them for my Sandisk MP3 player - my nuvi 200W doesn't have MP3 capability.
