Nuvi 360 Cheaper Screen this year?

I just purchased a nuvi 360 for my grandfather for xmas...

But when i compare the screen to the 350 that i have been using for the last year, the display is not as colorful (contrast) as the one i bought last year.

Any similar experiences, or is this defective?

Thanks
smile

And another thing....

I also notied that the battery life on this "NEW" Nuvi 360 is only about 2 hours. My "OLD" nuvi 350's battery lasts about 4 hours.

Definitely not impressed with this unit...

FYI: I purchased it from walmart for $180.00

Garmin 350 screen contrast not as good

I RMA'd mine a couple of months ago and they sent me a refirb (it has a much higher serial number). There is a significant difference in the screen contrast. They fixed the problem and I have since gotten used to the differnece in the screen, but still displeased. If this one ever dies on me I am seriously considering another brand. I can't complain to much... they took the RMA 3 months after the warranty ran out and I got the latest map installed on it at no charge.

Nuvi 350 - MCP, Network+

.

I think it's the screen makers. I had a TomTom 730 and it was kind of washed out and terrible with glare and even a little sunlight. I could not read it at all at times. I had to go back to Garmin, not great but better.

Since you've owned your Nuvi for quite awhile you've probably checked this BUT, did you compare the screen brightness settings on both units? Maybe one is cranked up to 100% and the other (grandpa's) is set lower?

Cheers wink

Wal mart stuff if you didnt know are considered "seconds" reason i know this as a fact is because i ran a company a few years ago that built there display racks for all of there stores and was in Bentonville many times, doing contract neg. with the exec's. was told that they but less that perfect or have things built to a MUCH cheaper standard , i dont buy electronics or cloths at walmart there well JUNK.

Be careful of generalizations

I didn't know that because, as a genreal rule, it is NOT true.

For some things, sure, and you need to be careful of what you buy regardless of where it is. While some models of some things my be built specifically for WalMart, so are some things in Target, Sears, Costco, etc.

Something like 90% of the name brand stuff on the shelf at WalMart is EXACTLY the same as it is in any other store, given the same model number. EXACTLY.
