I wonder if Garmin will add a new voice "DING"

On my 680, the best feature was to turn off the voice prompts and just have the prompt alerts, so the GPS would still give a DING for a turn and directions.
Garmin has now done away with prompt alerts, using a 760, I have to either listen to the directions, or turn it off so I can talk on the phone.
One way to get the DING back would be to add that as a voice like Jill or Jack.

I wonder if Garmin would go through the trouble if I bug them enough?

Dings

It wouldn't hurt to try! Good luck!

Create Your Own DING Voice

One of our members created a program which allows you to customize the TTS voice files. http://www.poi-factory.com/node/16285

So you could change all of the key phrases to "DING". Keep in mind that the voice file sometimes combines phrases to create the instructions, so change key phrases to DING and leave all of the other phrases blank. It should work.

Thanks

TY.......I will try it. Of all the features, that is the most important to me. I am pissed off at Garmin.

Ding

Ding's a well-known SoCal surfer who used to run with Jeff Spicoli's crew. One gnarly dude....

Would be fun to have his voice on a Garmin.

Jeff Spicoli: "What Jefferson was saying was, Hey! You know, we left this England place 'cause it was bogus; so if we don't get some cool rules ourselves - pronto - we'll just be bogus too! Get it?"

I miss the "ding" too!

On my old Magellan Maestro (the only thing I liked about it really) was the "ding"

I love my Garmin mind you .....but when it says "turn right on N.W. 65 street" and you have your radio up or talking or something distracts you and it says "turn right on N.W. 65 street" again, sometimes you may drive right passed it. At least the Megellan would go "ding-dong" when the turn was to be made. No-where to mess up that way. Just my opinion!
