Is this the new update? Garmin says it is.
Several other updates that don't pertain to me.

I'm downloading 2021.10 right now.

For those of you familiar, Foursquare is similar to Yelp and Google in terms of POIs, but it's ridiculously inferior in every way. Much of the POIs are three or more years old, often extinct. Surely Garmin can use Nokia (HERE) Maps POIs instead or another source?

Is it possible to just load these cameras for just a few states in your vicinity instead of all 50 states when downloading from POI factory.

Unfortunately formatting my sd card in the device caused my Garmin 2797 internal drive to be wiped. I was able to restore many files to the point that GRMIN express can load the latest maps. The installed files came from Garmin 3790 which is quite different.

In Windows file manager, the maps are shown as installed, however are not operating in the machine.

I recently bought Garmin's Topo US 24K pre-programmed data card northeast version. I installed it in the usual way in the mini SD card slot behind the batteries on my Oregon 650. After booting, the Oregon will not recognize the map. It is not listed when going to "Settings", "Map", "Configure Maps". I have other Garmin 24K map products which work normally on the Oregon.

I ran across a situation recently with my DriveLuxe 51 where the DriveLuxe would not automatically pair with my Android smartphone. It has always worked perfectly for me, but this problem started a few days ago after I installed the updated Timezone and Traffic Provider files on the DriveLuxe.

If battery is dead in my garmin 50 will it keep working plugged into lighter socket

I see that there is a DriveLuxe 51 with some extras on eBay right now as an auction with optional Buy It Now. The Seller looks to be a good one. Given the rarity of these being offered now, I offer this info to whoever may be interested.

My PC just got a clean install of Windows 10 plus all the Garmin software. The settings in Garmin Express were done the same way suggested by members, including: "Automatically download device updates (radio button) Never."

This post will hopefully stimulate some discussion on the current Garmin method of updating maps several times a year. Does anybody here think that they might eventually move to a system that updates either live, daily or weekly? It would be interesting to know what percentage of Garmin users even update their maps. I strongly suspect that some people never update them!

MANY years ago, there was some software that helped make changes to the TTS Voice files. I changed "Recalculating" to "We are so lost." In some update, the file reverted to factory text. Wanted to change this again but all of the old links are broken.

Anyone have alternatives?

I just picked up a Drivesmart 55. I have been using a Nuvi 3597 LMT for several years now. I made the purchase thinking something 5 years newer would be 'better'.

To be honest, the Drivesmart 55 feels cheap compared to the 3597.

Has anyone gone from a 3597 to a Drivesmart 55? What are your experiences / preferences?

I may end up returning my 55. We'll see.

Just purchased a old Garmin nuvi 50 and I tried to load some custom points, but Poi Loader can not find the device.

Can you load Custom POI's or Routes from Basecamp into this GPS?
