Map Product Manager

Hello everyone, I have several old maps from the past which I removed by deleting the folders from c:programdatagarminmaps. I did this years ago, I know I should have use the Uninstall. Now within Basecamp and Mapsource's Map Product Manager->Unlock Regions there are severals listing which shows "Map product not installed, Region Unlock code from xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.gma". Is there anyway I can clean up or delete these from Map Product Manager? The delete button is greyed out for those lists. Can I go into the registry or user's folder somewhere and remove them?

Thanks

Old maps

If they are not on your hard-drive any longer then removing the leftover info in the registry should do it.

But be aware monkeying around in the registry is not for the faint of heart.

Once the Registry Editor opens up I strongly suggest that you make a back-up copy of your registry each time that you get into it. It may save you some heartaches later on.

Click on "File" and select "Export" and a backup copy will be created. Save it on your desktop to find it easily!

BTW: I have also found never to remove the very previous map only remove 2 and more backed up copies.

I tried to search the registry but could not find it. Do you know where it is in the registry ?

Thanks

Uninstall?

I rarely use Basecamp so I could be totally off base but have you considered just uninstalling Basecamp, then do a reboot and reinstall?

You jogged my memory. I remember this program from waaaaay back with Mapsource. You can google it. I saw this in the intstructions:

NOTE: If your map is not included in the Map product list, select
, enter the corresponding MapID and hit OK.
If you are not sure about your MapID, install it first into the
MapSource, open regedit and browse for
one of the following keys:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREGarminMapsourceFamilies]

or

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREGarminMapsourceProduct]

and check the "ID" REG_BINARY. That is your MapID (in HEX). You
have to convert it
from HEX to decimal (do not forget to reverse the byte order
when coverting)

I figured it out. It is not

I figured it out. It is not within the registry, go to this folder:
C:Users[your logon id]AppDataRoamingGarminMaps

looking for the corresponding *.gma file which shows from your unlock region and delete it.

For example within your unlock region it shows this:

Map Product not installed; Region unlock code from 111-222-333-444.gma

Go into that folder and delete the file 111-222-333-444.gma. Close Basecamp or Mapsource and reopen it again it will be cleared.
