SDHC Nuvi 650 - Works!

Just picked up an 8GB A-Data SDHC card. Works perfectly in my Nuvi 650

I thought 4gb was limit

I am amazed at how much they can fit on an SD card..I remember my first PC had a 20 MB hard drive and I never filled it. Of course this was pre Mp3 and Digital pictures....I am sure I can resize a Lot of pictures and fit them onto my 650, and still have room for Mp3s

I can remember spending $49.99 for my HUMONGOUS 512k Ram for my Sinclair 2000!! smile

I've seen them all!

Yeah, I picked it up for $30 on Newegg.com but that was a rebate thing that just expired.

I remember paying $45 for my 1 GB CompactFlash just a couple of years ago. But I have a 2 128mb SD cards.

Yeah with 8GB, space isn't too much of an issue, just the display speed with 4mb pictures isn't the greatest. Too lazy to resize!

Makes be feel old, I used ta work on a data general nova 3 computer with a 5meg removal hard disc and a fixed 5 meg hard djsc with 96 k of ram at one meg a hertz...

Military MIGHT!!

When I was in the army I use to maintain the data room on base. A huge room with unlimited drive space. (As long as we changed the tape regularly.) But even that, my laptop must be 1,000 times faster. smile

I remember doubling the memory in my Apple-IIc and went to a whopping 256k...and it cost me around $1 per k to boot....and when a 1200 baud modem was a luxury.

I remember when memory was something we exercised while watching Hugh Downs on "Concentration" and the word "baud" had a "y" on the end...

Who's the winner?

Are we competing for the crown of dinosaur of 2007? Dang, I remember abacus and slide rule. Some of you probably have to check out Wikepedia to find out what these computing monsters.

Apollo 13 would have loved a nuvi

I am sure there is more computing power in a Nuvi than any of the Apollo spacecraft. Heck just the calculator might be better..My first Digital camera had an 8 meg card..and I still use them to save my tax files on..My Nikon D70s I have 4- 2 gig cards for it...They are the perfect size they hold just around 1000 pictures..any bigger and they are a pain to download to the PC

I had learned about the Abacus in school, even had one as a toy. The slide rule I think was beyond me. Never had to use one.

My first computer (a Radio Shack Color Computer) came with 4k of memory, and I eventually hacked it to 64k.

As for the sliderule, I still have mine and I can use it. smile If civilization ever collapses, I'll still be able to do logarithms. (I figure I'll build cabins with the natural logs, and use the common logs for firewood.)

I tried an 8G SDHC card in my SP7200. It worked perfectly EXCEPT that the mp3 player would only handle 500 mp3s even though the card had about 2000 on it. I'd be interested to know if the Nuvi line has the same limitation.
