MetroGuide with NUVI?????

About a year ago I purchased the MetroGuide Europe v8 for my eTrex Legend (around $200 as I remember which included full coverage of many countries I will never visit.) Now that I also have the much more capable Nuvi 250W I'm wondering if I can use the MetroGuide series with my Nuvi in some fashion or do I have to purchase the City Navigator NT Europe for my next vacation over there. (Maybe next year; maybe never)??

Actually, if you still have MapSource installed on your computer, you will be able to use the chunks of maps you defined in gdb files. You may need to do a free MapSource update from Garmin's site to use some special nuvi features. I'm not familiar w/nuvi 250w, but if it has a sd socket, you could put your European maps on a sd chip. I load old World maps on my nuvi660, work great.

I still had MapSource from the eTrex and followed the suggestion from other discusions to ask Garmin to send me the City Navigator NT disc so I could manage waypoints. The disc came with MapSource also so it appears I have an upgrade. The 250W has an SD slot so I will try your suggestion in a few days, just in case someone posts a "DON'T EVER DO THAT ON A 250W!!!" because.............

In MapSource, go to Help > About and be sure that the version is updated to at least 6.12.4. If it's not, download the update from Garmin's website to be sure you have the newest version (which I think is 6.13.5).

Strange as I downloaded the update about 30 minutes ago and it was 6.13.4. I just now tried updating again and was told that no update was needed. Now I feel cheated. Thanks VE2LHP.

Try going direct to the site and checking the version. I have 6.13.6 as well.

Don't use the update function inside MapSource. It almost never works.

Thanks Everyone! I am now able to use my MetroGuide Europe Maps with my Nuvi using the updated 6.13.6 MapSource. I don't know how you people learn this stuff, but it sure is useful to me.
