Garmin talk

This worked for me, I told Garmin I've been having intermittent problems with my nuvi 760 freezing up. I mailed it in, and in a week they mailed me back with a refurbished unit with a different serial number. I then regestered it and it came up as a newly purchased unit. And i got a FREE map update, i had my 760 since xmas.

How do I put audio books for a site called audiobooksforfree.com on my nuvi 350? Every time I download a book and try to install it with the poi loader it say it does not reconize any files to be loaded. Help this is one of the resons I got the nuvi 350.

Will someone tell me where to place the file, Sox.exe?

I have downloaded it and extracted it from the .zip file. I placed it in several different places on my PC where Garmin files are located, but when I use the Garmin POI loader to install my pois a message comes back telling me that the sox.exe file cannot be located.

What am I not doing?

I am trying to download from my Garmin c340 street pilot to my computer and then upload them in to my new nuvi 350. How do I do this I can't figure this out. Thanks you any help.

Besides being enthused about Le Tour de France and Team Garmin, I'm excited about the new Felt Bicycle vehicle that I used on a cycling trail this morning.

But I've noticed some curious things about this new vehicle:

• it only displays properly in 3D View
• it changes to a blue triangle if you touch the map
• it switches to a blue triangle after zooming out 12 levels

2.) I offer a sincere apology to all in this forum for my behavior last week when I over-reacted to the lack of an answer to my question about SD memory cards within a few minutes. I said something like no one having interest in answering a newbee's question about SD memory cards in a Garmin c330.

I have a new PC (within last 3 days) and when I plug Nüvi 200W into the USB port it does not show a Garmin drive. If an SD card is in the device the SD card shows up as a drive but the Nüvi still does not show up.

Any suggestions on what to try?

Is it possible to convert the cvs files to GPX files using GPSbabel?

Hi all just joined up and would to ask about memory cards. How much is adequate(spelling???)is 2gb's overkill if you want to combine poi's,mp3,city guides, etc. or should they all be separate go to costco and buy a bunch of 512mb's and label them, hope I'm making sense.

I am using a Nuvi 350 which I have had since October (and absolutely love). I only recently found out about these POI alerts and such.

Here's what is going on. To practice this I created a 'Redlight' type proximity alert for my house that would alert me when I passed near home and play a mp3 file, etc.

I recently upgraded from a garmin Quest to an nuvi 650. I liked how the quest would start and go into map mode automatically. The nuvi, on the other hand, shows the menu with options. I couldn't find a way to change this behavior in the manual.

Does anyone know if this can be changed or is that just the way it works?

As a relatively new nuvi 760 owner, I'm not sure what to expect with regard to performance of the FM traffic service. According to the coverage map, I have been well within the "green zone" north of Baltimore, yet have mixed results . At times the signal locks in (green led on the receiver) and traffic information is readily available and quite helpful.

So, I bought a new 650 to replace my 350 and when I went to register my new product, I got a pop up menu stating I qualified for a new map update (which I went and downloaded, and installed). My question is, since I got a new unlock code for the 2009 map, I haven't used the one that came with the unit (one that comes with the orange paper in the box).

I loaded the Walmart POI with POI loader directly on my Garmin 200W. I now have the Walmarts listed twice in the Custom list. I deleted the POIs listed on the Garmin unit they were deleted, but when I restarted the Garmin the double Walmarts were still listed. I then also tried deleting the POIs with the POI Mac Beta loader. They are still there. How can I delete these files.

Have noticed that when I have on destination in My Favorites that takes FOREVER to plot a route to OR from, regardless of route start or destination. Location is in Playa Del Rey, California, an area that should be well-mapped with no shortage of satellites. Have tried re-entering the city as Los Angeles with the same zip code but that does not seem to help.

OK. So I added coordinates to the RestAreaCombined.csv file, converted RestAreasCombined.mpg to WAV, copied a BMP file and renamed it RestAreasCombined, installed sox.exe and then used POI Loaded to load successful.
I did a manual load onto GPS, selected Miles & Feet.
Unfortunately I am not getting ANY notification that I went by these coordinates. I set distance to 11111 feet.

Does anyone know if it's possible to see POI icons on the map? I know I can see one POI icon if I select it, but can you see all gas stations/restaurants while you're driving by them? (Using the C550).

I had a TomTom for like a day before I had to return and it had this feature, the Garmin I have doesn't seem to have it, or I can't find it.

Hi everyone, HELP! I've just moved to Dubai and bought a Garmin nuvi (2007) but it keeps telling me to go in the wrong direction and sometimes even just stops directing me altogether and stays on the same picture/directions. I bought a lead to connect to the Garmin.com site, hoping to upload 2008 maps but I can't navigate it and just don't know what to do. Can anyone advise me?

Does this mean I'm going to get it sometime or do I have to tried to download it again?
