Garmin talk

Hi,
I have a c330 that I got from the mother in law. The charger that is integrated into the windshield mount is broken. It is just the little metal tab that engages in the GPS to charge when it is in the mount. I don't want to buy a whole new mount. Is there any source for this little plug piece? Any info is greatly welcome.

Is there a way to look at the trip log, and see where it has been going for the last few days? Otherwise, what is the point of it besides putting a blue line on the purple one?

- Total maps near 6GB supported (if you can stay below the 4005 segment limit which i cant).

I just recently upgraded from a C340 to a Nuvi 255W (and love it so far).

I did notice a couple of things, though, that react differently, and wonder if anybody has a solution.

what is the difference in the download packages, sound alerts and icons? Does the package include alerts & icons?

I have Garmin Nuvi 255W. Finally I got custom audio alert to work with custom POIs with the help of folks from this site.
I want to take this a step fruther and create my own custom POIs for certain locations where cops usually hide to catch the speeders in my local area. I know at least 15 locations that I want to add on that list for now... i can always add more later.

I used EasyGPS to add information to my favorites. When I finished I saved the information as current.gpx on my Nuvi. However, my Nuvi 350 will not show my name changes. What's UP?

i just loaded garmin topo onto my 255w,but i want to redo the map,do i need to erase the current topo map to install the new one or will it do it automatically,and if you have to erase how do you do it.i open the garmin up in my computer but not sure what file to erase.thx

Another problem I have. My favorites are not listed in alphabetical order making them hard to find. Especially since I can store 500 favorites.

Is there any way to put these in alphabetical order by name?

Has anyone bought anything from Fogdog sports? They are listed on Amazon for a NEW GDB 55 MSN Cable for $39.99 + shipping. Everyone else is showing $80. to $90. for the same item. I know that I have seen a web site here that you can check out online sellers, of course I did not wite it down.

I would like to have the icons for my POIs to show up like my favorites or home icon. I would like them to show even when they are not on my current route and when alerts is turned off. Does anyone know if this is possible. Maybe using one of the secret code words.

I was interested if anyone has one of the new Garmin's with the lifetime free traffic and has used the Navteq traffic in and around the Tucson area?

I'm now using the Clear Channel traffic on my 760 but would like to know if the Navteq Traffic is active in the Tucson area and how it is working?

first I love the 205W with the new software that shows speedlimits, etc it rocks!

the 205W says "Turn Left" but not "Turn Left on First street" is there a way to add that without upgrading to a new more expensive Garmin?

also I have lots of POI data loaded for Starbucks, Red Light, etc. can I add sounds like .MP3 or .WAV so it can say "StarBucks" instead of just the boring tone?

OK, I've installed the proximity .csv files for all A&W, McDonalds and Tim Horton's locations in my city using PoiLoader. I hear a DING and I can see a screen box with text indicating the address of the A&W restaurant nearby.

How do I replace Garmin's DING sound with a human voice that announces "A&W restaurant nearby"?

I bought a Garmin Nuvi 350 recently and I'm wondering if there is any way to reconfigure the input keypad from abc to qwerty? I did a quick search of the archives and saw that some of the newer Garmins have this and wondered if there is a patch or hack to change the older units?

When I got my first MSN compatible Nuvi, it came with a 12 months trial and they had a 6 month extension for $9.99.
Got my second 760 this week and activated and noticed that they do not offer a 6 month extension anymore.
$129 for a lifetime sounds better than a $49 annual subscription.

Hello. Will my car battery run down if I keep the Garmin cigarette lighter power cord plugged in even though I have unplugged the mini-USB end of the power cord from the GPS unit? The red light indicator on the power cord is lit up.

I just turned my 760 on and was prompted that there was an update to MSNDirect at www.msndirect.com/updates. Of course, there is no response at that address. The browser progress indicator shows loading page for minutes on end. Garmin WebUpdater does not show any updates available. Has anyone else seen this?
