Garmin talk

Does anyone have experience with the speed/cadence sensor for bicycles? I'm planning on combining it with a Forerunner 305. I've been using the Forerunner for over a year with running, but am going to start training for a Duathlon and want to track my cycle training on the same unit.

msn has a weak signal how do get a better msn signal do i mount a antenna . out side my car for the garmin or what i have a nuvi 5000 and it has a spot for an ext antenna but that is just for the garmin not the msn right??? or is it for both need help ???

I am looking for a home adapter for my mom's Nuvi 205w. I was wondering if any mini USB AC adapter would work or if there is a special adapter that I have to use to charge it at home.

I bought Garmin external mic today and treid to connect it to my Nuvi 760 but found that connector is too lose and won't stay in. Am I doing something wrong? I will appreciate your help.

I have a Garmin 750 GPS and really like it. I have downloaded the POI downloader and some POI files. I put the first batch I wanted into the GPS. It was great. THen I downloaded some more POI's and when I downloaded them into the GPS they deleted the previous ones. What did I do wrong?

BTW I also installed a 1gb SanDisk into the unit and put mps files on it should I download the poi's to it?

It seems that the 765T is being slammed right and left by owners of the earlier 7X0 series in various GPS forums. Is there anyone out there with a 765T who has anything good to say about it? If so, is it only because you have never owned a 7X0 series and thus do not have high expectations? Please feel free to respond with the truth, not with what you think I want to hear.

Had a chance to go to hawaii this past week. Spent most of my time in oahu and a day in maui. While in oahu, i had a rental car. Travelled a total of 217 miles. Stayed at a cheap hotel in wikiki. My trusty nuvi 350 worked fine directing me to polynesian cultural center, north shore, airport, pearl harbor, circuit city, byodo temple, pali lookout, etc.

i use nuvi 760 firm ware 4.2
when i have two POIs near each other i have the first poi sound come up and as i get closer to the second poi i get it to sound, but then the first one repeats itself because i am stil within it's range
any solution to that ?

I recently installed the City Navigator North America NT 2009 Maps on my SD card, my Nuvi 350 displays them in Map Info along with the 2008 maps installed on the unit. Both are checked and I can unchedk the 2009 but not the 2008. Is it ok to run with both checked, will I be using up-to-date maps if both are checked or do I need to uncheck the 2008?

If I'm in a parking lot with a POI nearby (i.e. Starbucks), and I start my car, which powers up my Nuvi, a lot of the time the Nuvi will freeze. I'll get a notification that a POI is nearby, then there is no additional response from the Nuvi. I'll have to reboot it.

Anyone else experience this? FYI, this is a Nuvi 770.

I assume I must use the POI Loader to place POIs on a SD Card? If I have POIs loaded in the unit's memory also does the unit default to the card, the unit or both? If it uses both the unit memory and the SD card how does it effect the file structure. For example will I have two files labeled Fast Food.

I have a nuvi 650..how come every time I downloaded a new POI file, the old one is gone? We can only have 1 POI file in our extras? Can someone tell me? Thanks!

I just joined the Garmin family yesterday with the arrival of a new 265WT. I went over it's features with a friend who has a 260 and he told me about this site.

I'm not completely new to GPS though, I've had a Garmin Edge 205 for my bicycle for two years now, and a 2006 Lexus with nav. I've also used my Dad's hand held Magellan for years to mark hunting way points.

What would I need to create my routes in Nuvi 760. I believe I need Mapsource, which I insatlled on my pc but I don't have map CD. Will Garmin send me map CD? Are these two tools required or something else? I will appreciate your help.

The Nuvi 255W is on sale at InkStop store's till christmas for only $219.99. This is the cheapest price yet i've seen for this unit. New 09 maps included.

Just a note for all Mac users. Since the release of OS 10.5.6, WebUpdater will not work. I’ve talked with Garmin and they are aware of the problem and are working on a fix. From what they say, UpDater still works fine on Windows. So hang tight, a fix is on the way.

I downloaded icons (BMPs) but can not find them to install. Where are they? How do I use them? Garmin 760

Recently I purchased a map upgrade for one of my Garmin GPS's. BUT - the unit couldn't be recognized by the computer for some reason. So I called tech support and in the end they needed me to ship it to them to replace / repair. In any event, he told me it would come back with the new maps on it. That, by itself, is a nice surprise.

Can anyone confirm or deny if the data on the maps for Puerto Rico are any good? I just went there for a short vacation and the amount of errors was amazing. The unit (nuvi 660 running 2009 maps form the SD card) hung up at one point and I had to reset it, which has never happened before. Because of that, I'm not completely sure where the problem is, the maps or the unit.
