Christmas Surprise from Garmin

 

Recently I purchased a map upgrade for one of my Garmin GPS's. BUT - the unit couldn't be recognized by the computer for some reason. So I called tech support and in the end they needed me to ship it to them to replace / repair. In any event, he told me it would come back with the new maps on it. That, by itself, is a nice surprise.

BUT - they the guy had me register my unit (2+ yrs old) online. By registering it, I was given a free upgrade for that device.

So I registered my second unit (1 yr old) and sure enough, a free map upgrade.

AND THEN - because I had bought the maps online and obviously don't need them, he registered my acct for free 2010 maps.

Garmin really has customer service down. I'm always taken care of and as a result I won't even consider another vender for my next GPS purchase ... whenver that might be.

You just can't do any better

You just can't do any better then Garmin for customer service.You really got the red carpet treatment.

registered too early

I seem to always register stuff right away...and I dont get the free update. I registered my Brothers, units 8 months after he bought them and he got the free updates..

...now if they could only fix the Nuvi 750 issues and Nuvi 370 phone problems...

Next time, I will WAIT a while before I register. It would be nice if Garmin took care of us "suckers" who registered early and gave us one free map upgrade once it came out. But I do understand they are actually trying to make money with these products! And they are excellent products.

i ran into a similar issue. my unit was 18 months old and garmin hooked it up when i had to re-register my unit. yay, free upgrade.
