any advice from other 765T users, or any of the veterans here would be most appreciated.

I just returned from my Christmas holiday drive to South Carolina and back, and experienced some disturbing behavior from my 765T.

It rebooted itself 4 times during the 9-10 hour drive down, and twice on the way back.

I have a question regarding alerts. I have an Nuvi 850 and have installed several POI's from this site. They work as I can navigate to them and also they sound the alert if I am on the same road. My question is if I am on I-69 and going along the alerts do not sound for the "McDonalds, hotels or anything else that may only be 1/4 mile from the Interstate. Do POI's such as these not have a circular alert, say if you set your alert at 5000 ft and you pass within 1/2 mile of your POI. Is there a way to do this. Thanks indyjkraft

Just bought a Nuvi 250W to replace my old baseball sized C330. It still works but after updating one map over a year ago for $99.00 it made more sense to buy the Nuvi for $170.00. The C330 started to nag me about an update. Now I need to get my old POI files over which shouldn't be too hard although it doesn't mention custom POI's in the manual.

Where can I download speedcamera and redlight cameras for my Garmin 205W
for free?

If necessary I guess I could cough up the 5 bucks and donate to this site.
But, how good are the POI you download from here?
Shows what the correct speed is for the camera? Beeps if you go over the limit?

I have a Mio and you can have it show POIs on the map as you're driving around.

I used my new 255 today and it doesn't show any POIs on the map. Garmin has icons in the favorite area to add to the places you save but are icons something that Garmin Maps don't show? Only my "home" location has an icon on the map.

Is there a setting I'm missing to have them show?

That's right, what's the lifespan of our GPS units? I mean, we all know we can purchase updated maps but when do you cross the line where it's more economical to purchase a new unit rather than just the map update?

Updating to map 2009, anyone thinks it's worth it?

How can you add an icon to the existing icons to be displayed as a symbol for added locations in the My Locations section?

I have purchased a Garmin 300 touch screen. I have also installed the Garmin communicator so my computer can transfer data to the GPS (Geocaching). How ever when I start the transfer I keep getting an error. This error..

Hi guys, noob here.. just want to start off by thanking everyone for making my GPS receiver that much cooler. I have already made my own vehicle icon and added the speed\redlight cam list. Being a Honda fan, I couldn't pass up this unit with its cool Honda logo and splash screen (that was before I found out I could make my own). It also has every dealership programmed as POIs.

I inserted the SD card into my StreetPilot C530. I downloaded and installed Map Update 2009. I installed a new map to SD card everything is fine. However, I accident delete the base map from the unit. I did have a copy of it in the hard drive. And I installed all 50 states map into the C530. The map came out very weird. I tried to copy the base map back to the unit, it didn't work.

Is any software available that could save/convert a GPX file (that contains tracks)in some manner so at least a line would show up on a Nuvi 3XX? I would like to see off road trails saved by others. MapSource shows the tracks but I need something to create a (map??) that I could load in a Nuvi.

I guess I may need to create my own maps, but will any of the file converters/editors allow this?

I have noticed that sometimes my 760 will not show me passing roads untill I have acctualy passed them by several hundred feet. Whats wierd is that sometimes I will pass the exact same roads at the exact same time the GPS shows it. Anyone have an idea on what might be the cause of this???

I just installed Europe Maps on my 765T (SD Card). My question is if SD card is big enough would it use the space on SD to calculate the route or does it still just use internal memory of gps to calculate route.

Just for fun tried calcualting a route from US to Europe and it said not enough space to calculate.

this is an all call to everyone that has a Nuvi 765T, lets here all of the good the bad and ugly things about this unit!

Does anyone know a good source for custom voices to download for a Garmin Nuvi 350? The stock Garmin voices are pretty stale/mechanical.

HI all,
I have a Garmin C550 and the traffic expired and I don't want to renew. I use my C550 on both my car and motorcycle. With the cigarette lighter plugged in to the C550, the traffic antenna was flashing, even the cable wasn't connected to power.

I'm wondering if there is a way to disable it completely?
Any diagnostic hack to disable the traffic?

I just got a Garmin 200w for Christmas. It's really been an amazing little unit to use so far.

For the pst few years I have been using a Garmin chartplooter on my boat, using Garmin's Blue Charts on micro sd card. I was wondering if there is a way to use the 200w as a back up GPS on my boat, on coastal waters?
