Garmin talk

Does anyone know if there is a way to report problems with a map, or actually it's interpretation. HOV lanes in VA are set at different times and the GPS have the times wrong so the unit constantly routes you off of the HOV lane when it is open for travel. I have noticed that it routes me on the HOV on the weekends when it is always open.

Should I get a screen protector for the 755t, especially from the lady users. My nails are short, but my gf are a bit longer.

How do custom POI files work if i set my garmin to go somewere ( not using the custom files ) Will they automaticly let me know if i am near a place in my custom file? Or do i have to click on the custom file link. Thanks

There have been various nuvi updates released for different series/units in the past few days, of which none to my knowledge have actually been "firmware" or unit software updates.

One has been voice updates for various units which I reported here:

I see target will have nuvi 1350 for $179 black friday.
It seems like a great price for a new model.
I currently have nuvi 750. I have no problems with it. I can use the lane assistance on the 1350.

Any good or bad comments on the 1350?
Should I upgrade or wait for a better model?

Hi all,

Anyone else having issues with the 4.90 software on the nuvi's? My GPS after the "upgrade" is now freezing more and when i turn off my car my nuvi just shuts down. It doesnt ask to stay on battery power. It does this now 50% of the time when I turn off the car.
I am thinking its due to the 4.90. Anyone else having similar problems?

With my newly acquired Garmin 1690, the latest among their units, has a lot of problems which I encountered:
1. It cannot be registered & be updated...after the downloading and updating of the software, it doesn't restart itself after being disconnected from the computer as per instruction. What I did, I manually restart it and upon checking if it was updated, it did not nor registered.

Anyone care to guess when Garmin will discontinue the 755T?

I see that the price on Amazon is now $206. I don't have any need to upgrade right now, but the newer units don't have the specific features I'd like to have, so I figured I might wait until the line is discontinued and get it at a clearance price.

Just wondering when I need to start paying attention.

I used POI Loader to upload 2,125 POIs to my Zumo 500. However, when I try to access them on my Zumo, they're not all there. Does the Zumo limit the number of POIs that it displays based on distance from the POI? In other words, is there a cut off with respect to distance from the POI? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

A friend of mine purchased a Nuvi 255w. I helped him over the phone to set up custom POI's. The only problem
was after he downloaded and installed the latest POI loader, we first attempted .gpx files and he keeped getting an error. I converted the POI's to .CSV's and no problem. Does this mean that .gpx format does not work with Nuvi 255w?

Hi All, I'm new to this forum and I am hoping that somebody has already found an answer to my problem. I need to keep the speed camera proximity alerts that are loaded as default but they are driving me mad. I understand that if we turn the sound down on the mixer that this would affect all volume including the volume for directions.

Nuvi 660 with all updates.

Just got back from week in NC, 17 miles from the I40 rockslide that has closed I40.

Our destination was east of rockslide, and we live west of rockslide.... We took mountain roads to get there, and decided we'd try somthing else going back.

When downloading POI Garmin POI Loader did not ask if I wanted to atore the data on SD card verses device. Can someone tell me how to work around this?

Can anyone tell me if the clear channel traffic will work with my nuvi 680? Any comments on clear channel and the 680? Since MSN is no longer, I would like to still get some traffic info. The coverage seems to suit me better with clear channel as opposed to navteq, for the areas I travel in. I have found a GTM20 with clear traffic included, but would like some input before I make the purchase.

I am making an upgrade from 255 to a 755t, I had problem with Garmin Voice back in the 255. I also heard that the 755t has a small voice? anyone found this to be a problem? and any work around for this.

Has any new way been developed to delete poi entries that came with the Garmin? For example, would like to delete 10 or so Quisno's that have closed that keep showing up in the poi. I believe that originally no pois stored in the original Garmin program could be changed unless someone reversed engineered their program? Any help would be appreciated.

I currently have a Nuvi 350 which has been working fine. The thing I was contemplating was upgrading the maps on the curreent unit (2008 maps) or getting a brand new unit (255w) at one of the Black Friday sales.
