Garmin Nuvi 255WT ??

Edit.Let me back up on this.You said 255wt.If one is out there I have not seen it.I was at Best Buy today in FL and no sign of one.The 265 wt has the traffic.

If it is a WT then it is a special model for Best Buy as the 255 normally only comes in a regular width or wide (W) model with no traffic receiver (T) on any of them.

Best Buy and Garmin have done this in the past with other models packaged specially for BB. Here in Canada, not sure about the US, Garmin also special packages various models for Costco. Just bought a 265WT the other day that came with a carry case in the box. The package was maked "special packaging".

Not the 265WT !

has some errors in it. While the model may be a 255W with a traffic receiver included, the specs on the 255WT state no TTS but the specs for the 255W says it does do TTS - which is correct, it does text to speech. With errors such as TTS, it makes you wonder if they have the wrong model listed. It wouldn't be the first time ...

Not sure what 'spec' your looking at but those shown in the link I posted above (http://tinyurl.com/yjkeqqz) says:

"Turn-by-turn voice prompts
Allow you to keep your eyes on the road while navigating with convenient voice guidance that announces the name of streets and exits."

Believe that's TTS.

The 265 has Bluetooth, the 255 does not.

Seems like there are a few Garmin models that are exclusive to BB, i.e. I saw a Nuvi 1300T the other day at BB which is apparently only available through them......

the 255WT can be considered as either the 255W with traffic added OR the 265WT without bluetooth. It is a Best Buy exclusive in the states but is a very popular model overseas. FYI, it went on sale this morning on the BB website for $129.99 with free shipping so you can save yourself the hassle of waiting in line tomorrow for something that will most likely be sold out.

I think this must be a special 255 as it is being advertised at Best Buy as having lifetime traffic control info. Maybe it's being used as a xmas special and then it'll go off the market.

I purchased the 255wt at BB this morning. It does have lifetime traffic updates. I hope I made a good choice at 129.00

I also purchased at 255WT at Bestbuy yesterday morning for $129.99 they seemed to have plenty in stock... I was able to use the traffic feature briefly yesterday, it appears that the traffic receiver is built into the car adaptor cable, the garmin GTM25.

Yes that is correct.The traffic receiver is built into the cable.You got a good deal on the 255 with traffic.Lots of differences in price for a 255 or 265 compared to last year.

If you got the lifetime traffic updates, you got a pretty good deal on it.

From my understanding after doing some research before my purchase, the 255WT is only sold in the U.K. It does not have TTS in the U.K. That is why when I went to the specs is said no TTS.

For the Best Buy "special purchase" 255WT, Garmin enabled the TTS. Garmin/Best Buy took the original U.K. long list of specs and forgot to make the change, but they did make the change in the description.

The T designation means it comes with the traffic car charger. That is sold separetly for anywhere from 80-100 dollars. Most of the new 2X5's have the traffic capability, but you need the special charger.

I just bought one and it's pretty nice. Make sure to plug it in to get traffic or you won't see it.

Just got one it basically is a Best Buy only model. The only difference with the 255W is it comes with the power cord that has the FM radio traffic receiver built in to it. So you have to have it plugged in to get traffic updates. Works great so far.

I am considering a 255W, and wonder what I would be missing regarding traffic feature.

The website http://www.navteq.com/rdstraffic/ shows the traffic coverage areas you get with the GTM 25 cable.

So, no traffic updates if I buy a hardwire kit without using the factory cable? I guess I can use the factory cable when driving in areas that traffic might be a concern. I just bought the 255WT from Best Buy because it was only a few $$ more than the 255W at Radio Shack due to free shipping at BB.

Today, I purchased a 255WT from Best Buy for $129.99. It is a special 3 day sale that ends tomorrow. Their 255WT is the asme price as their 255W. The website says it has lifetime traffic.

So you are getting a comparative price on a 255W with the free traffic receiver. Not a bad deal at all!

my wife bought the 255wt for 169.00 on 12/11/09 I saw it for 129.00 on the 28Th of Dec. called Best Buy and they did a price match and refunded me 40 bucks.. yahoo!!

First new GPS since my 4 year old c330 street pilot. Very cool!
